I found another book shop today in Newcastle
The book Greengrocers.
They had a great clearance section outside so I got this chunkster for $4.
I was a bit disappointed in there true crime section but we can't have everything in life.

I picked this up in Barter books Alnwick in the summer purely due to the cover + what a great read. Gerry and Sewell are two friends in an impoverished Gateshead but are determined to get Newcastle united season tickets through various dodgy and hopeless schemes. Despite all thar society throws at them, from school teachers to family, their friendship and hope is infectious, yet this is a story that also pulls on your heartstrings.
Bit of book shopping today in Alnwick at the amazing barter books followed by a scenic bus ride back to seahouses and a pint overlooking Bamburgh Castle. My idea of a perfect day!
4/5
Number 6 in the Vera series, it's actually the first book of the series I read, and it can definitely be read as a standalone.
I liked the atmosphere of this mystery book, even if I would have liked the end to be longer, perhaps it would have seemed less rushed...
Overall, a solid plot which kept me guessing until the end.
Longterm boyfriend cheats on girlfriend. She breaks up with him and moves away, meets other men. One online, one in real life.
The online guy becomes a friend, the RL on is an enemy-to-lover.
BUT the Ex grovels and ⬇️⬇️⬇️
After not particularly loving the last book in this series I was a bit wary about this one but after a slow start I was pretty engrossed.
Another good read in this series. I never had an inkling about the killer. So sure it was someone else!
I don‘t usually pay a lot of attention to authors‘ nationalities, so I‘m looking forward to some Aussie voices from the book swap. Thanks for my new Australian books, @LapReader I think I‘ll start with the really local tagged book.
