Nearly 2 AM and I'm still reading! This was a great biography of Henry James. Plenty of information (and a handy chronology at the back), and excellent illustrations and photos throughout. Honestly, I can't imagine a better short bio than this one.
Black Books in the background was a good choice, though I think I'd better go to bed and read there for awhile.

Wow, just...amazing! Not only for the multiple storylines and deceptively simple yet powerful illustrations, but for the scope of history as well. We didn't learn much about the Vietnam War in school, so I've only picked up bits over the years. This was quite a lesson! Amazing to think about how much struggle each person went through just to survive. Powerful and emotional. Go and read it, you won't be sorry!

LauraBrook Also, keeping it 💯 with #pantlessreadathon. The house got too hot and stuffy! 7y
LauraBrook And, this was book 4. Dangit! 7y

Another from this afternoon. Book 3 of the #pantlessreadathon. I liked this one. It's short, and covers some basics in craft, thought, coziness, recipes, etc. It's almost a So-so (it's light on info depth), but would make a great holiday gift along with some candles and the ingredients for a recipe or something.

Forgot to update from this afternoon! Book 2 of the #pantlessreadathon, this short book about covers was fascinating. It was interesting to hear both her ideas about book covers as some who has published books, and then to also hear about the publishing side, making decisions and so on. Really interesting!

christineandbooks I really enjoyed this little book! 7y
LauraBrook @christineandbooks It was so great! The size was deceiving, there was a lot in there. 💖 7y

5⭐️ There's a reason this has a 100% rating on Litsy. It's amazing, but quite a punch to the gut. There were definitely some 😭😭😭 at the end. Be ready for some 💔💔💔 too. Don't let that stop you from reading it though.

So glad that other people are read-a-thoning today! I've always been busy during "official" ones, so I was already planning to make today all about the books, but now I can join #pantlessreadathon -- but since I'm starting outside, I'm only committed to the readathon part. ?

Zelma Smart decision! 😆 7y

Part of the reason I'm wearing PJ parts during the #pantlessreadathon is that I don't want to get that personal with #Henry 😂😂😝 Especially when he's on a licking his paws binge! Still loving my beautiful book bubbie #booksleeve from Etsy! I saw a girl on Twitter with the exact same one. 💖🌸

Gezemice I have not heard of the pantlessreadathon but I am pantless all right! Well, I am wearing a dress, lol, and reading, so that must count? 8y
Megabooks @Gezemice Yes! As long as you're comfortable. It started from a post by @MicheleinPhilly yesterday, and some of us are using the hashtag when we're reading in comfortable clothes this weekend. Just fun and casual! 8y
kiminreverse That book sleeve is gorgeous! What is the Etsy shop called? 8y
Megabooks @kiminreverse book bubbie https://www.etsy.com/shop/bookbubbie/ they run on the small side though. That's a large one and it will only fit undersized hardbacks and trade paperbacks. I still love it though! ❤️❤️ 8y

This novel really picked up for me after about the first 35 pages. Depestre wrote it about 30 years ago, but it was only recently translated to English.

It is a slow build. Damn is it also dark, sexy, and beautiful. I loved Hadriana as a narrator. Her observations and criticisms are so sharp. I want to sit with these characters and drink iced tea while they tell me stories.

It's a solid read.

Goal for this weekend's #pantlessreadathon is 3 books. This one, How I Became a North Korean 🇰🇵, and The Guineveres. Tonight feels like a short story night because IMO, there's never a bad time for those! 👖🚫 📚

Megabooks @AceOnRoam I'm excited! It sounds great. And I have an autographed copy!!! 8y
AceOnRoam Ohh, that's fabulous @Booksandcooks a keeper for sure. 8y

4.5⭐️ I assure you that book 1 of the #pantlessreadathon was listened to in comfortable pants!

What a great audiobook! Zeller sounds the most like I imagine Roach would of all the narrators I've heard. Plus she nails all the accents of side characters!

I thought, as a veterinarian, I'd have less to learn from Roach on this topic. Wrong!! Completely engross and endearingly fascinating. Definitely a win!
