I think the cover & title are awful, but I actually loved learning more about the enneagram in this book. It's full of humor & hard truths & helped me understand some of my own challenges & others' choices better. The structure worked well introducing each type & explaining how their childhood, work, relationship, etc. can be affected by their type. It wraps up each one w/ a list of ways they can work on spiritual growth & healthy decision making.

I‘m new to learning about the enneagram and this was a great introduction.
It really is a joy to spend time thinking about the different types and where you and your people fall over the 9 types. I found it very interesting and will probably continue to think about it for some time.
The only problem I had with it was that I would‘ve preferred the spirituality parts to be spirituality without Christianity.

Finished for the Leadership Foundation 101 class I teach. Overall an interesting read & a pick. In a class of 16, the group found value in learning about their own tendencies (I‘m an Obliger who leans to Rebel), how they respond to internal & external expectations & how to work with differing tendencies. Although Rubin‘s data doesn‘t appear to be thoroughly tested/vetted, it makes sense & is another good tool to have + it‘s a fairly quick read.

Really interesting but I think there could have been a bit more depth.

Does this ring true for any Litsy introverts?? 😁

KathyWheeler I will leave the gas station rather than go in. 2y
Ruthiella I hate that too! But I go in because I put off getting gas for so long and really need it! 2y
LauraBrook This just happened to me on Friday! I left and went to a different station. 2y

Q84 I always leave and go to another station. I want to pay at the pump so I don't have to go in. When I do go in I always end up sending 20 buck on thing I don't need or even really want. No thanks 2y
Bookwormjillk Yes, and a no go when I had babies in the car 2y

marleed Ha. I leave too. It‘s been many years since I‘ve entered a station to pay for gas. The bathrooms though - that‘s another thing ;) 2y
Sparklemn @marleed My sister thinks I‘m strange because I feel l need to buy something when I use a gas station bathroom…even it‘s just a pack of gum. 2y
marleed @Sparklemn omg - me too! And since I pay for gas at the pump it‘s usually a fountain soda. 2y

My boss is actually a fine human being. He‘s kind, intellectually curious, and a devoted family man. As #theboss though he drives me crazy. He‘s constantly overwhelmed and thoroughly disorganized. I try to help, but I can only do so much.

I‘m not looking for a new job. That ship has sailed. But when I was, I found the tagged book to be insightful.

I threw in the towel at the Obliger chapter. I get that the book is aiming for tendencies and not meant to be taken as a hard-line prescriptive for understanding people, but the writing and tone felt otherwise. This person studied law then turned to writing and is not a psychologist. The example phrases for all types other than Upholder (the author's) were petulant, childish at best.

Took the Myers Briggs test again. I'm still an INTP. Any other INTPs out there?
