CWilson Is your dissertation on dungeons and dragons? That is so amazing! 7y
Aliciaftw @CWilson It's more broadly on high fantasy rpgs, but I don't think you can really discuss it without giving due credit to D&D. 😄 My background is in Linguistics, so I'm applying some methodology from there, (that's typically been just used on literature and film studies,) to the field of game studies. 7y
Aliciaftw Sorry to rant haha 7y

CWilson @Aliciaftw that is so interesting! I kind of want to read the gender and sexuality in game play books now! 7y
CWilson I can imagine they don‘t paint a lovely picture of the depiction of women in fantasy rpgs. Always in lingerie instead of chain mail. 7y
Aliciaftw @CWilson I was thinking about sharing cool quotes I come across when reading these, I just wasn't sure if there'd be an interest in non-fiction quotes. These days I do tend to read more academic stuff than books purely for pleasure though. 7y
CWilson @Aliciaftw Definitely share!! I‘ve seen some non fiction quotes on here and it sounds really interesting. (edited) 7y
Aliciaftw @CWilson I think I will do! 😄 You just asking about my research makes me feel more motivated so sharing quotes and stuff will probably cut down on the feeling of isolation when studying. :) 7y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @Aliciaftw share, share, share! Fantasy RPG's are a big passion of mine (when I'm not reading) so I would love to hear! 👌 7y
Aliciaftw @GrilledCheeseSamurai I will do! I guess this can kinda be my niche in the community! :) 7y
Kenyazero This looks like the start of a very fun research project! 5y

Catching up on essential literature for the #phd late on a friday night. That feeling when you return to a book you read years ago and it suddenly proves so useful again.

'The campaign for the abolition of the slave trade demonstrated and proved that civilised people's, like the British, could achieve moral progress. British primacy in the war against barbarism reaffirmed the nation's place at the apex of refinement and virtue.' -Moral Capital, Christopher Leslie Brown. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #bookstagram #mybookshelf #history #slavery #abolition #dissertationresearch #phd #thegradlife
