If you thought grumpy Cambridge scholar Emily Wilde‘s research into faerie-kind and their mysterious realms was enchanting, intense, or quite seriously ill-advised before…just wait until she becomes the queen of one! This series is so clever, delicious, and fantastically conceived—I‘ll walk through any faerie door on the heels of Emily, her dandy of a faerie prince, and their expanding world of colleagues, companions, beasts, friends, and foes!

SaunteringVaguelyDownwards I love this series so much (especially for the depiction of academia) - stacked! 2w

I'll never tire of Emily Wilde and her Faerie adventures. But this time, Emily isn't just researching faeries-- she's becoming their queen. Alongside Wendell, Emily is ready to retake his Irish realm. Unfortunately, their story is following a dangerous precedent that is sure to get someone killed. Not if Emily has anything to say--or research-- about it though. Another wonderfully fun historical fantasy romp from Heather Fawcett.

Since back to school season is upon us, I thought I‘d highlight my favorite books featuring professors
👩‍🏫✏️🎓📓📝
All of these are humorous, have heart and won‘t bring you any “back to school blues” 👍

LiteraryinPA Fun idea! And also, I didn‘t know Julie S had a third book! 3mo
Aims42 @LiteraryinLawrence Yep! The hardcover came out last August and the paperback was just published at the end of July this year, so very new for that edition 🙌 3mo

I love the wit and type of humor in this series so much! I finally figured out who Jason Fitger reminds me of… Bernard Black from the British tv show ‘Black Books‘ 😂🤣 Once I made that connection I couldn‘t picture anyone else. So, if you enjoy that type of humor (very wry and ironic) I think you‘ll like this series 😄 I‘m continuing my binge of this series and moving onto the 3rd book right now (“The English Experience”).

wanderinglynn I loved Black Books! 3mo
Aims42 @wanderinglynn It‘s such a funny show 😆 3mo
KathyWheeler I loved Dear Committee Members, but I think I wasn‘t in the right mood when I started this book — I need to go back to it. 3mo
Aims42 @KathyWheeler I can understand that 100% 👍 When you need a silly, palate cleanser read, this is the book lol 3mo

I enjoyed this book very much, the MC‘s humor and wit (and unapologetic snarkiness) had me laughing out loud 🤣 I am starting the second book (“The Shakespeare Requirement”) right away 👍

Roasting potatoes in the oven, wrapped in a quilt, reading for class ♥️sometimes, life is paradise.

This really is one of the best books I‘ve read about writing. It‘s definitely geared towards those who have to publish as part of their profession, but I think it would work for anyone who wants to write 📝

LiteraryinPA Your blanket looks cozy! 4mo
StaceGhost @LiteraryinLawrence thank you! It really is! It‘s the perfect weight for summer too 4mo

Bailedbailed

I bailed at 75%. I was all in even though I hated the narrator—I also empathized with her as a fellow academic and middle aged woman who grew up in a western patriarchal society. But she made a choice in the last section of the book that I found so dumbfounding and reprehensible that I had to stop reading it.
