Since I won't be able to have a proper #SelfcareSunday this week, I wriggled in a #SelfcareHalfFriday 😉

Did some preparation for the #GladstonesLibrary #ReadingRetreat while listening to the tagged book and another #audiobook (which I will keep mum about since it's my blind date book).

#HookersOfLitsy

julesG @squirrelbrain Sure! I think we haven't added you to the WhatsApp group yet. 4y
gradcat I love that— #hookersoflitsy —I think I‘ll try to join with @squirrelbrain ... you‘re very good at this, @julesG ... not sure I could measure up (see what I did there?) 😂 4y
julesG @gradcat 😂😂 Thank you! I only re-learned to crochet a few years ago. My advantage is that I have loads of time for crafting. I'm sure Granny Squares aren't the hight of artistic craftsmanship in crochet. I'd love to have the patience and skill to make a lace tablecloth out of sewing thread (my grandmother did that). Anyway, I'll attempt to teach some of the Littens coming to the #GladstonesLibrary #ReadingRetreat2020 at the end of the month.... 4y
julesG Let's see how well I can teach crochet. I'm sure someone will capture the moment on camera and share it with Litsy. 🙈🙈🙈 4y
gradcat @julesG You are truly multi-talented. I‘d be interested in knowing how the teaching works out, so if you post anything about it, please tag me! I love your granny squares, by the way...just saying....♥️ 4y

1. Finish library books currently checked out so I can take just books from my shelves to #readingretreat2020
2. Tagged book had several minor characters, and I realized about halfway through that I should have been taking notes on who was who. I never think of that ahead of time...

Recommended by Anne Bogel, this is the first book in a British mystery series that‘s somewhere in the middle between dark/gritty and sweet/cozy. There‘s also a hint of some nice interaction to come between the two main characters. I‘m glad I listened to the audiobook version, as the narrator did a good job with various accents that helped “tune my ear” for my trip to the UK for #readingretreat2020 in a few weeks.

I‘m cheating a little with this. While it‘s not entirely #setonnewyearsday it does start on New Year‘s Eve (Hogmanay) and continues through January to Up Helly Aa and the burning of a Viking boat.

I was hoping to get back to Scotland on the way to #readingretreat2020 but the logistics of that were making my head explode. So instead I‘ll start this series and also keep watching the show.

#AuldLangReads

rockpools Ha! Sadly the logistics of getting to Scotland and/or North Wales frequently make my head explode, and I‘m starting in the same country! But Ann Cleeves is a great read, regardless. 4y

Last week I walked ~49K steps and finished two books. More later about screen use and sleep. 😴

This week I have activities every night and a big “thing” at work, but somehow 🤔 I‘ve managed to accumulate all these library books plus a few others that aren‘t shown for various reasons. The Fodor‘s guidebook is research for #readingretreat2020 but still...

#bfrc4 #checkin

wanderinglynn Way to go! 🙌 Sounds like a great week to me! And that's a pretty awesome library book haul. 5y

I‘ve barely been home from vacation for two weeks, and I‘m already looking at planes and trains for #readingretreat2020 (no automobiles because I‘m not crazy enough to try driving on the wrong side of the road). Maybe I‘ll get back to Heathrow and have another giant cup of tea. #londoncalling #wanderingjune

BarbaraBB I know the feeling... I always need to know when my next #readingretreat (love the #) will be ✈️🚂 5y
