Pickpick

Audiobook pick: This was funny and interesting at the same time. A candid look at how much is too much. This covered what made her decide to quit drinking and all that led up to it. It isn't preachy and the parts on parenting young children (sleep deprivation, stress) definitely ring true.

The message in the 2nd volume in The Spirit of Denendeh graphic novel series is that it‘s never too late for redemption and that the prospect of leaving a legacy to be proud of can carry us forward to a better future. The portrayal of Fort Smith is impressively realistic—it‘s rare to see NWT communities in fiction. Tlicho cultural traditions & beliefs as shown are interesting too. Dynamic art and an inspiring story: I recommend this! #Indigenous

Nice to see this Easter egg: Lacey takes a brave step in her life and she is carrying a copy of Helen Knott‘s memoir, In My Own Moccasins.

An addiction #MommyMemoir that has already mostly flown out of my head in two short days! 😂 low pick

Stefanie already had some problem drinking behaviors before she had kids, but the stress of having one child followed quickly by twins with minimal help from her hubby had her picking up the bottle to excess every day. One night she drove her kids drunk and realized she had to make a change and get sober.

Interesting. But nothing ‘new‘ as such IMO. #bookspin for Jan!

Who jury-rigged a tall, skinny reading lamp table out of an electric kettle box, a yoga block, a CD holder, and a cigar box?

Me! I did that!

(Then I discovered it was impossible to attractively photograph, but whatevs.)

And I did it all while I finished RAZE, which was wonderful and got me super emotional. Roan Parrish has definitely become a favourite. #audiodecorating

I took a long #audiowalk down a new path the city built last year. It runs behind a lot of familiar places, and I discovered all sorts of secrets. Like, I had no idea the Korean market has a karaoke bar with the world‘s most awesome front door!

RAZE is still great—but when I paused it so I could read something with my eyeballs, Scribd decided it wasn‘t downloaded and I couldn‘t restart it. 😑 I switched to podcasts for the rest of the walk.

I made blueberry scones tonight to use up some frozen fruit. They‘re Nigella‘s recipe with the 4.5 tsps of cream of tartar, and they look weird but have great texture. That‘s tomorrow‘s breakfast sorted.

I listened to a big chunk of RAZE while I baked, and it‘s confirmed my love for Roan Parrish‘s work. THE EMOTIONS. As an added bonus, one of the leads loves audiobooks. I felt so meta, listening to him think about that. #audiobaking
