This book went on my TBR pile years ago, after I read Elizabeth Gilbert's nonfiction books Eat Pray Love and Committed. I finally got around to this novel, and enjoyed it a lot. I found it charming and funny. The characters on the Maine islands were vivid and interesting. There were a couple of characters who were too one-dimensionally unpleasant, but I put that down to this being a young writer's first novel. #usareadingroadtrip #srcspring2017

This book started off so slow, I nearly stopped reading it. That's a problem I've had before with Emma Donoghue's books. Fortunately, the story deepened and picked up enough to draw me in and keep me interested. Interesting premise, based on true-life cases of Victorian fasting girls. The ending was a little out of left field, but was more interesting than the ending I expected. Recommend, but remember to hang in there. #srcspring2017

I haz ambitions for May. Actually, the list is not as ambitious as it sounds, since I have a bunch of books on it that are already half finished. I just need to buckle down and finish them. A lot of library holds came in last month and disrupted my reading plan. This is the last month of #srcspring2017, so I'm targeting my reading toward achieving maximum points from those challenge tasks.

I'm already reading this, so technically I guess it isn't anticipated, but this is my #Maymostanticipated book. I am most excited to get really into this one and finish it! #maybookflowers #srcspring2017

Currently reading this for a group read in #srcspring2017. Fellow word nerds, it is fascinating. It's about cracking the code of ancient Cretan Linear B script. It's been on my want-to-read list for a couple of years. So glad to be prodded into reading it now.

Rainbow Rowell is so much fun to read! Enjoyed this story about a phone with a mysterious connection to the past, and the potential to fix a damaged relationship. #srcspring2017

I loved the writing and the story in this book, but I can see why some people didn't like it as much. It definitely left me wanting more...several mysteries were not resolved when the book ended. I still enjoyed it and would recommend. Historical fiction with a pinch of weird/suspense. #aroundtheworldin80books #srcspring2017

According to Goodreads, I've had this book on my to-read list since 2015. Once again I have to thank #srcspring2017 for motivating me to actually get a copy of this book and read it (challenge task: book about the Tulip Bubble or set in the Netherlands). It starts slow, but I'm enjoying this book and getting drawn into it pretty quickly. I see it has lots of neat historical notes at the end that history nerds like me will enjoy.
