Involves politics, but definitely not in a traditional way! Great on audio.

The Keeper of Stars | Buck Turner
Pickpick

This is the first book I have read by Buck Turner and I just loved it. This was such a beautifully written love story. I enjoyed all of the characters and the author made them come to life. I could picture being on the water and the beautiful scenery. I cried a few times both sad and happy tears. This is a book that is just a nice simple love story. An easy read and it just had me hooked from the beginning.

My library‘s book club pick for August—I‘ll lead the meeting tomorrow. This is a heavy-handed novel to create empathy in readers (southerners in particular) who may be against gay marriage. The story is fine, and the characters were nicely written but most of them were a mouthpiece for the agenda. Of course I 100% support gay marriage and I love that this book exists but I don‘t enjoy being preached to while reading, even if I love the message.

Reggie There‘s this horror movie called Black Christmas. There‘s 3 versions, the 70s one, the early 00s one, and the one that just came out a few years ago. The last one is the worst one. I consider myself to be liberal and left leaning but if there ever was a movie I would call woke in a bad way, it‘s that one. Sometimes I just want to be shown and not preached to. All this to say, I understand. lol 2mo
NatalieR I understand too. I have lost interest in Silas House because he has become extremely forceful in expecting others to think like he does. I agree with his beliefs, I just don‘t like it when he or anyone else to forces their beliefs onto others. I was a fan of Silas‘ before he was well known. He‘s changed a lot. His first 3 books are his best. 2mo

Verghese wrote two of my favorite works of fiction so I had to read his memoir about his time as an infectious disease specialist in Johnson City, TN during the early days of the AIDS crisis. His perspective as an immigrant was really unique I thought and the stories of his patients were very touching. This was another Verghese five star read for me.

Beautiful prose covering the dystopic and disgusting. Just not my cup of tea though as far as the story

PROMPT: BOOTS

From New York City to Tennessee?

Was Cassie making the right move?

She thought so, but meeting family members she hadn't seen since she was three was frightening as well as disillusioning.

A read you won't want to stop reading once you get going.
