EadieB Overall I liked the book and the different characters were interesting. I especially liked Maeve‘s writing and her insight into different personalities. I just wish the book was longer and we could find out what is happening with these characters. She kind of left us hanging in the end. (edited) 6y
JacqMac I loved the characters. But I have so many unanswered questions. This is why I hate short stories. This book was too much like a collection of short stories. I need more! 6y
Tove_Reads I‘m disappointed because the stories lead nowhere. I‘ve never liked open-ended stories. 6y

rubyslippersreads I enjoyed the book but, like everyone else, would have liked more closure. 6y
TheBookHippie Ditto. More story!!!! 6y
Andrew65 I‘d agree with you, I really enjoyed the stories but the book needed a part one and a part two. We‘ve finished part one and we need to know what happened next for part two! In some of Maeve‘s books some of the characters appear in future books so we will have to keep our eyes peeled 👀 to see if any of these characters appear in books written after this one. @Tove_Reads @JacqMac @EadieB @rubyslippersreads @TheBookHippie (edited) 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 Hopefully they will reappear! 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB 🤞🤞🤞 It does seem strange to leave the book like this. @Tove_Reads @JacqMac @rubyslippersreads @TheBookHippie 6y

EadieB I think Tom and Celia would make a good partnership. Better than Bart and Celia. But we will never know because the book ended. 6y
JacqMac Yes, I would love to see them together. This book needs a sequel! 6y
TheBookHippie @JacqMac YES! We could collaborate on a sequel ! It's like we got a window into the story and then the curtains closed🤣📖 @Andrew65 @EadieB (edited) 6y

Andrew65 Agree totally @TheBookHippie @EadieB @JacqMac I think they‘d make a great Partnership. Frustrating to not know what happens and yes we need to write the sequel. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 We can each take a character or two and finish their story! 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB I want to finish Tom‘s story (and spoiler alert, for me this will also involve Celia) 😂 @Tove_Reads @JacqMac @TheBookHippie @rubyslippersreads 6y
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 😂😂😂😂let me know if you read more Maeve I'm in! 6y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie We have been reading one book a month or so, so likely to move onto a new one next month or December at the latest. Will let you know which one we plan to read and when once it has been decided. Great to have you with us. 😊 6y
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 yay!!!! Thanks !! 6y

EadieB I like Tom. I think he is more concerned about his sister, Phil, than his mother. He has to beg her to write to her daughter. She is more interested in what the neighbors think. 6y
JacqMac I really like Tom, too. I wanted to shake that mother though. Lol 6y
TheBookHippie @JacqMac shake scream ugh. I like Tom as well. 6y

Andrew65 Mothers are quite a key element of this book and the effect they have on their children. Tom came across really well in this book. @EadieB @JacqMac @TheBookHippie (edited) 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 She does need a good shaking! 6y

EadieB I don‘t think Celia had an option. Her mom was going downhill real fast with her drinking. It may be the end of the pub as Celia has a nursing job and isn‘t interested in drinking. 6y
JacqMac I agree with @EadieB I think Celia handled it really well. She didn‘t have a choice. And yes, I think it will be the end of the pub. (edited) 6y
TheBookHippie Stranger things have happened. I don't think Celia had another option. It's never an option to not try. She handled best way she could. 6y
Andrew65 She had to do something, and think in general she did a good job of this, can‘t see an alcoholic keeping the pub going! 6y
EadieB A definite end of the pub! 6y

JacqMac It made me a little sad. I have a a gay son and I can‘t imagine him having to hide such a big part of himself. But considering what things were like back then and how people would have reacted, I don‘t think he had a choice. He was protecting himself. 6y
EadieB Well at least that nixes the relationship I thought he and Judy would have. Nice that he decided to invite Jimmy home and his mom seems receptive to that idea! 6y
TheBookHippie That's the way it is STILL for some. Sad though. Self protective is a fine line when hiding yourself. 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB Jimmy certainly didn‘t delay in accepting it which was good to see. 6y
Andrew65 Very sad where people have to hide such an important part of their identities. As @TheBookHippie says this is how it still is for far too many people. @EadieB @JacqMac (edited) 6y

JacqMac I‘d like think he wanted him to have a good relationship with his family. And that he was just waiting for Rupert to become comfortable with the idea of inviting him along, 6y
EadieB I don‘t know about Jimmy. It‘s a little suspicious to me that he wants Rupert out of Dublin every weekend! 6y
TheBookHippie @EadieB an alternative motive ? It's suspicious . I agree. 6y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie I‘d agree, why does he want him away from him every wee, end. Very suspicious but then as soon as Jimmy invited him along he jumped at the chance. Hopefully he is doing it for altruistic reasons but jury is out! @EadieB @JacqMac (edited) 6y

Question 2 of 4

Sorry should say Bart‘s

#MaeveBinchyBuddyRead #TheLilacBus

JacqMac I don‘t think gangsters let you out that easily. I hope it works. But I don‘t think it will. 6y
EadieB I don‘t think it will work either. Kevin knows too much about their operation. Does not look good for Kevin! 6y
TheBookHippie Nope. There's "honor among thieves" so to speak ..however Im thinking this will not end well....toooo much known knowledge never turns out well ? 6y
Andrew65 As I said in the previous answer I thing Kev needs to disappear, fancy going for that drink in the first place, how stupid! 6y

JacqMac Oh, Kev, what have you done? I don‘t think this mess will be very easy to escape. 6y
EadieB Kevin is deep into the doo-doo! I don‘t know how this will ever come out clean in the end! 6y
rubyslippersreads I think Kev might be sleeping with the fishes. 😂 6y

TheBookHippie @rubyslippersreads 😂😂🤣 6y
TheBookHippie @JacqMac I am talking to the book this can't mean good news for kev!! 6y
Andrew65 Easy to get yourself into something like this, very difficult to get yourself out. He needs to disappear before he disappears and sleeps with said fishes! @rubyslippersreads @JacqMac @EadieB @TheBookHippie 6y
