Early Barclay before the success of today. A funny and anecdotal read of growing up in the cottage county of Ontario Canada. A truly funny and endearing book.
Debbie Reynolds was the voice of charlotte in the cartoon movie.
A Christmas tradition in our home. Beautifully bound and illustrated. Every Christmas chapter from each of the Little House books.
This was a bonus book added to a Scholastic order at school. A great introduction to the thesaurus. This order was very random and it fit the diversity of the students who bought books. This image kind of sums it up.
Not the book the TV show is based on, but it looks like a quick and interesting one.
Great short stories to get you in the spirit of the season
At one time most of my friends could hear the bell, but as years passed it fell silent for all of them. Even Sarah found one Christmas that she could no longer hear its sweet sound. Though I've grown old the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe.
Timely and very interesting.
Timely and topical,and it's Doonesbury
This is the best account of the Titanic disaster that I have read, and I've read a few. It's even better than the Walter Lord Classic A Night to Remember.
This looks intriguing, has anyone read it?
Poe and Halloween just go together.
September turned out to be a slow month in the reading department. Back to school is always hectic. So it turns out I wasn't done with the era of the great liners . The sinking of the Empress of Ireland in 1914, was bookended by Titanic in 1912 and Lusitania in 1915. Hence the forgotten part of the title. http://www.avidpublications.co.uk/empress.html
I loved this book. Who whole imagine a Former President of the United States and the First Lady , getting in their car and taking a road trip and for the most part being unrecognized
When Laura Ingalls Wilder was born it was the age of pioneers. When she died it was the beginning of the jet Age. Will we/ have we seen as much change in our lifetime?
Haunting and informative. I seem to go through phases where I am drawn to the same subject matter, right now it's nautical and nature themes. I highly recommend this book
Harken back to an era of the great liners, I have always thought I was born in the wrong time.😉
Morris Lessmore loved words.
He loved stories.
He loved books.
But every story has its upsets.
The movie s an absolute favourite of my Daughter and me. Even at 14 (we have been watching since she was 7) this is still what she watches with me when it's dad time . I passed on this book to her and now we can quote passages as well as recite dialog from the movie . As you wish😉
I want to pick this and rate it so-so at the same time. It made me laugh and cry and empathize with this family. In the end there some inspiring thoughts of faith and believing.
I had bought these before my daughter was born and they were forgotten in a luggage trunk when we moved, tomorrow is her 14th birthday. I guess now is as good as time as any to gift them to her and hope she enjoys them as much as I did when I was her age, ok a bit younger.
Just started this tonight,no I did not watch the television show😉
This was a favourite when I was young. I just found a copy on EBay . Who says you can never go back.
William Joyce brings to life the guardians of childhood. With stories that will change how you look at Santa, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny.
I was watching In the shadow of the moon on PBS before I started this book. The guys with the Right Stuff are mortal and getting older but boy did they have a hell of a ride.
With the Supreme Court playing a major role in the possible outcome of this years Presidential Election, Becoming Justice Blackmun tells the tale of the evolution of a Justice.
