Debbie Reynolds was the voice of charlotte in the cartoon movie.

shanebeth I didn't realize that. I've always loved this version, even though it makes me sob uncontrollably. 7y

This was a bonus book added to a Scholastic order at school. A great introduction to the thesaurus. This order was very random and it fit the diversity of the students who bought books. This image kind of sums it up.

KCorter 1000% agree! The children's librarian at the library near my childhood home was one of the most influencial people in my life. She helped me find myself in books. One of the best things you can do for a child is give them the right book at the right time. The world will unfold for them. 7y

The Polar Express | Chris Van Allsburg

At one time most of my friends could hear the bell, but as years passed it fell silent for all of them. Even Sarah found one Christmas that she could no longer hear its sweet sound. Though I've grown old the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe.

This is the best account of the Titanic disaster that I have read, and I've read a few. It's even better than the Walter Lord Classic A Night to Remember.

Poe and Halloween just go together.

Amputateddad
Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
"Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou," I said, "art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the Nightly shore—
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!"
Quoth the Raven "Nevermore."

September turned out to be a slow month in the reading department. Back to school is always hectic. So it turns out I wasn't done with the era of the great liners . The sinking of the Empress of Ireland in 1914, was bookended by Titanic in 1912 and Lusitania in 1915. Hence the forgotten part of the title. http://www.avidpublications.co.uk/empress.html

I loved this book. Who whole imagine a Former President of the United States and the First Lady , getting in their car and taking a road trip and for the most part being unrecognized

Just wondering if anyone has read this yet? It's on my list.

RuSirius3 I read this book several years ago. It is heartbreaking, but an excellent read. Very detailed re-telling of true events. 8y

When Laura Ingalls Wilder was born it was the age of pioneers. When she died it was the beginning of the jet Age. Will we/ have we seen as much change in our lifetime?

Haunting and informative. I seem to go through phases where I am drawn to the same subject matter, right now it's nautical and nature themes. I highly recommend this book

Harken back to an era of the great liners, I have always thought I was born in the wrong time.😉

LauraBeth I spent my entire night last night dreaming that I was on the Titanic as it sank - I may have to pass on this one until I can figure out my subconscious 😀 8y
Amputateddad I have at least 3 more ship books to add and 1 is about Titanic, no that's not a sign. 8y

The movie s an absolute favourite of my Daughter and me. Even at 14 (we have been watching since she was 7) this is still what she watches with me when it's dad time . I passed on this book to her and now we can quote passages as well as recite dialog from the movie . As you wish😉

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Look for this book, the audiobook is excellent too and read by the original cast members! 8y

I want to pick this and rate it so-so at the same time. It made me laugh and cry and empathize with this family. In the end there some inspiring thoughts of faith and believing.

I had bought these before my daughter was born and they were forgotten in a luggage trunk when we moved, tomorrow is her 14th birthday. I guess now is as good as time as any to gift them to her and hope she enjoys them as much as I did when I was her age, ok a bit younger.
