Loved this, different and engaging. Saw the author at Book Riot Live and his talk about how cinematic people found the story made me want to read it despite knowing very little about it. Looking forward to reading the sequel.

Pleased to find that Shirley Jackson's grandson did this graphic novel. The sparseness of the story really comes through in this format. I'm definitely going to re-read and relook at this story in a different way. In my freshman high school English class, I acted out the story in a small group. We rehearsed at a friend's house, getting the phrase about "m'dishes" right. We ended the play with handfuls of crumpled paper rocks thrown at our friend.
Reading this tonight in honor of Shirley Jackson's 100th birthday. Picked this up at Book Riot Live last month. Tomorrow I'll tell you about why I love this story.
Started this last night. One of the key points the author has made right from the beginning is that there is so little we know about Emily Dickinson and so much we never will. But I also loved this quote.
Excited to start this trilogy after hearing Alyssa Cole last weekend at Book Riot Live! I'm laid up with bronchitis this weekend so it seems just the thing to distract me.
Trying to read and savor this book but it's hard this week. Might have to come back to it.
5 stars ⭐️🌟💫⭐️⭐️and all the praise. Listened on audio. The story is so raw and honest and Tig's reading brings it home even further. She is an inspiration for me and I think about tackling some personal writing.
Really enjoying this. I've seen a lot of buzz about this and so far, it's great. Unique magic system and a diverse group of characters.
This is my book choice for a scary #nonfiction read for #allhallowsread and today's challenge. I read this a few months ago and also watched Alex Mar's documentary on Amazon that features on of the witches she wrote about. No pic of the book so here's a cat photo :)
Sharing my favorite YA/children's spooky read for today's #allhallowsread contest! My pumpkin earrings today are perfect with this :) 🎃 (I also love listening to this audiobook too, it's read by Neil Gaiman himself!)
In the mood for some Halloween stories, listening to this today. 🎃
Loved this line. From the story "Love is the Last Resort" by Jon Skovron.
Great paragraph from the Francesca Lia Block story.
Selfie of my Harry Potter section including a hand whittled wand from camping a few years ago. #24in48 #readathon #shelfie @Litsy had had some fun challenges this weekend!
Next book for the ##24in48 readathon! Already read the first beautiful story.
Moving on to this for evening reading, looking forward to it! Finished Shrill and Summer Girls earlier so this is my first new start of the readathon. #24in48
I'm going to participate in the #24in48 readathon this weekend, though I definitely won't get 24 hours in. I've got literally 50 pages left in Shrill, and Summer Girls in almost done too. The others are summery and/or YA. If I feel ambitious I'll start #hambio so I added it to the stack. I'm ashestoashes24 on Instagram and I'll be posting there too.
This Nora Roberts trilogy is a paranormal romance where one of the characters is a mermaid who has three months with legs to help on a quest. She's a little dippy but makes for some good humor.
Read this this week, great summer read. People doing things they aren't totally sure of, people getting sucked into life and just being their not-perfect selves. Some lovely moments and great sentences.
Read this sitting outside on a summer afternoon. Hilarious and true with a few teenage antics that are both believable but also a little unrealistic. Sweet ending and a lot of fun!
