Bay of Sighs
Bay of Sighs | Nora Roberts
The new Guardians Trilogy novel from the #1 "New York Times" bestselling author of "Stars of Fortune." To celebrate the rise of their new queen, three goddesses of the moon created three stars, one of fire, one of ice, one of water. But then they fell from the sky, putting the fate of all worlds in danger. And now three women and three men join forces to pick up the pieces Mermaid Annika is from the sea, and it is there she must return after her quest to find the stars. New to this world, her purity and beauty are nothing less than breathtaking, along with her graceful athleticism, as her five new friends discovered when they retrieved the fire star. Now, through space and time, traveler Sawyer King has brought the guardians to the island of Capri, where the water star is hidden. And as he watches Annika in her element, he finds himself drawn to her joyful spirit. But Sawyer knows that if he allows her into his heart, no compass could ever guide him back to solid ground... And in the darkness, their enemy broods. She lost one star to the guardians, but there is still time for blood to be spilled the mermaid s in the water and the traveler s on the land. For she has forged a dangerous new weapon. Something deadly and unpredictable. Something human."

It's time for Christmas mugs! 🎄
It's also time for Christmas books but I'm still working on this trilogy. 🤷‍♀️

KadaGul I've hit a pause on reading 📖Nora Roberts's books📚. I love 😍her writing ✍️ , but I've found other authors to check out. Ugh, my TBR pile is like a mountain ⛰️! 4w
bookandbedandtea @KadaGul I had not read one of her books in YEARS. I picked up the first in this trilogy and liked it so I want to finish the story but I have a feeling I'll be ready to read other things for quite a while after this. As you say, soooo many books on Mt. TBR! ⛰️ 3w

My book club chose the second book in a trilogy for our next meeting 🤷‍♀️

I don't really care for fantasy and the dialogue seemed stilted. I know Annika was learning the language, but why did everyone else sound robotic to me?

That being said, the love story was sweet and the concept interesting.

PS - the ocean treasures are some of my own collection 😊

Book #2 in this trilogy felt repetitive at times. It does have nice imagery. It wasn‘t terrible, but I don‘t think I would have stuck with it if it wasn‘t the second of three.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed Annika and Sawyers story. I was worried the naive mermaid would get annoying but she was really well written and her innocence and honesty brought a great balance to all the characters.

The plots that Nora weaves is incredible. Sawyer and Annika's story is heartbreakingly beautiful. How the quest for the stars with those 6 amazingly talented spirits will conclude as me intrigued.

These trio of books are on my favorite list ... and not just because of the covers #7Days7Covers #CoverCrush 3rd day enjoy 😉 📖 @gradcat @HOTPock3tt @tpixie @Connster

gradcat I love Nora Roberts...& those covers. Really nice ones! ♥️ 5y
tpixie @gradcat @Ddzmini I love Nora Roberts and JD Robb. I don‘t think I‘ve read this trilogy yet! I‘ve gotten behind on the trilogies. And Nora. I want to go to Boonesville sometime to her husband‘s bookstore and stay at their bed-and-breakfast and eat at their sons pizza place!! My understanding is she cannot refurbish the town! (edited) 5y
Ddzmini @gradcat and @tpixie always have to get Nora Roberts books only down side is that I read them in one setting... but I always reread her books. I also want to visit Boonesville because of the way she describes the town in her books 📚 5y

I was a bit disappointed. The attraction or rather the connection between Sawyer and Annika doesn't touched me. It's kind of 'boring'. Annika is too pure but sometimes her wanting to learn new things does put a smile on me. And sometimes her “it's pretty“ also annoyed the hell out of me. Villians are added in this book. #paranormalromance

limada I remember feeling similarly. Annika was both cute and annoying alternatingly. And you're right, connection rather than attraction. It wasn't so much a love story as a story of recognition. With villains. 5y
JaneJane85 @limada Exactly. They hardly get together “alone”. Mild attractions between them on Book 1 but nothing more. So when it comes to them as the main lead for “Bay Of Sighs”, I was expecting more. Like how Bran and Sasha connect when he “forced” his way into her life. Pity the villain died too easily. 5y

3.5⭐️

This was just as much of a fun quick read as the first but with a change in perspective. For me, a lot of the stuff in the book was a little too predictable. But the amount of importance that food plays in this trilogy makes up for a lot of it. Actually seeing characters on these huge quests still having to do things like clean and cook food is probably my favorite part.

Booknerd2 @SandyW Definitely!!! Good advice. I think the only one that isn‘t renewable is Lisa Gardner‘s and I started it today. 😬 (edited) 7y

Such a great follow up to the first book and it kept the momentum going. This was Sawyer and Annika's story. Annika reminds me so so much of Starfire from Teen Titans Go. She talks like her and fights like her, it's hilarious and I love it. The six have become much closer and the set up for the third and final book was well done and not in your face. I can't wait to finish this series!

Considering I picked this up from where I left off a month ago before going on holidays, I'd have to say it wasn't thaaat great. I think the first book in the series set the tone for the rest of the books, because the story just didn't interest me that much. Like I said for the first book, this series remind me too much of others I've read before. But given that I finished it in a few hours (skimming through some of it), it wasn't that bad either.

BooksTeasAndBookishThings I only ever liked The Irish Born trilogy by her. She writes so generically to me. But, I have a LOT of her books from people that were fans and gave them to me lol Can't complain, though, because those same people also have a lot of Johanna Lindsay and I LOVE her! 8y

I have been in a weird reading mood lately, and because she is so dependable, I pulled this Nota Roberts book out of my library pile. Standard and consistent Roberts fare which I enjoyed raced through as always (her books are always so readable for me). Though at the risk of sounding prudish, I wasn't really sure what to make of the man-mermaid sex scene...Just thought I would share that mental imagery with y'all!
