This is the first book I've been able to finish since mid-July. Nothing has been able to hold my attention lately, but THE VANISHING YEAR sucked me in and kept me hooked until the very end. It was the perfect page-turner! "Zoe" was a bit high-strung at times & that put me on edge, but she was definitely a very believable character. You'll immediately want Henry to meet a horrible end. He's incredibly insufferable & in need of a throat-punch. 4?

This eye-opening must-read memoir from Leah Remini is brave, bold, and doesn't pull any punches.

Very informative and an excellent companion to the A&E docu-series, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.

Interesting story but it gave me the mental image of falling from a very tall building and taking so long to hit the ground that the person falling would stop being concerned with dying and more concerned with how long it was taking to happen ("Shouldn't I be hitting the ground by now?!").

Monday dawned like a mile-long freight train filled with radioactive sewage. DeMarco trudged through it. [...] He felt as heavy and hollow as a gut-shot dog dragging its ass uphill.

He had only to let one of the four horrible images float to the surface of his mind and a pain like none he had ever experienced would seize him and double him up again, twist him into a rigid knot of agony whose only release, short-lived and painful itself, would be an animal-like scream.

Powered through this one, tonight, because I couldn't not finish it, with less than 80% to go. Emotionally complex and raw, to say the least! Can't even begin to imagine how I'd react, if I were in their shoes.

“We take turns bringing a snack for the class,” the director said. “But we‘re a nut -free facility.” I looked around the room. One of the volunteer moms was dancing in the playroom to “Beat It.” Nut-free? Sure you are.

BetweenTheCoversBlog This book made me laugh so many times! The author's main character has very sarcastic inner thoughts. 7y

A shot of sadness goes through me that the laughing couple, so full of happiness and excitement in each other, is gone . . . knocked flat by life. Or death, in our case.
