The finest wine, the most up-to-date fashion, and the most luxurious vacations are all at her fingertips. What no one knows is that five years ago, Zoes life was in danger. Back then, Zoe wasnt Zoe at all. Now her secrets are coming back to haunt her. As the past and present collide, Zoe must decide who she can trust before shewhoever she isvanishes completely. A dark, twisty, edge-of-your-seat suspense (Karen Robards), The Vanishing Year combines the classic sophistication of Ruth Rendell and A.S.A. Started off okay but the main character was far too weak & indecisive. The twist was pretty ludicrous, & I hate the cover. 2⭐️

MY RATING⇢ 2 STARS | GRADE D
For me, this story was all over the place and lacked cohesiveness. Like everything, just sort of came together at the end; haphazardly. That, coupled with the crappy robotic narration and I was not feeling this story.

Absolutely loved this book read it in 48 hours. I know reading reviews that its not everyone's cup of tea and people think it's predictable, which maybe it is a little I did guess the ending but it's a great piece of suspense writing

I got Katr as she was about to head out the door at the end of the event, lol. She's so warm and down-to-earth. A true inspiration, and I'm glad we finally got to meet and hang out for a bit 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻!!! Then again, I like hanging out with all authors 😆. #LitsyLovesLibraries

This is the first book I've been able to finish since mid-July. Nothing has been able to hold my attention lately, but THE VANISHING YEAR sucked me in and kept me hooked until the very end. It was the perfect page-turner! "Zoe" was a bit high-strung at times & that put me on edge, but she was definitely a very believable character. You'll immediately want Henry to meet a horrible end. He's incredibly insufferable & in need of a throat-punch. 4?

So I know this doesn't exactly sound like a ringing endorsement of either book but... I read both of these this year, and while I kind of get them confused when I think back on them, I really enjoyed them both.

An advantage to being a direct shot from NYC and not too far away is that we get some great folks coming out and spending time in the area. 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Recognize any names? #LitsyLovesLibraries

There was a lot going on in this mystery. Lots of secrets. I figured it out before the big reveal but it was still a lot of fun to read.

An interesting little mystery!!! I'd suggest the print copy because the narrator on the audio version was almost comical. It's a complex mystery about a girl who comes from a troubled past literally into the lap of luxury. Her rich husband isn't the man he seems to be but everyone's secrets seem to guard themselves until the facade starts crumbling. A quick listen and a well crafted story! #BlameMrBook @MrBook

Got a good chunk in on this on my train ride in tonight. The narrator is killing me, though! The weird stilting voice she uses is really off putting. This would have been easier as a print book. #grownupnight #NYC

Trying this out on audio... The narrator is doing the husband's voice and it's a little bit like a bad William Shatner impression... hopefully he won't play a big role in the book!! I'm going to #BlameMrBook for making a subconscious suggestion!! @MrBook

#TBRtemptation post 5! Compared to a combination of Ruth Rendell and Jessica Knoll. Zoe has a charmed life: handsome successsful Wall Street husband, board member for the city's most prestigious philanthropy, perfect TriBeCa penthouse and a gorgeous lake house. But 5 years ago she was in danger. And now that secret comes back to haunt her. Told from the enigmatic heroine's pov. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

I'm not sure which Littens I need to thank for introducing me to Dollar Tree, but I owe you guys....Yowza!!! That store was amazing and the book selections were🔥💥🔥💥Found these 4, although there were dozens of titles to choose from. Jess7 I've read The Vanishing Year. It's a popular pick. It's entertaining and fast-paced, but fairly unrealistic toward the end. I think I rated it a 3 or 3.5 ⭐️. Hope you like it. 7y
Cinfhen I know it has mixed reviews but I was willing to take a chance for a dollar @Jess7 How bad could it be?!?! 7y
Jess7 It's worth reading. I'm shocked it was only a dollar. I had to wait for a 6 month library hold to read it last year 7y

I really liked this title while I was reading it but after finishing it, I have to admit that I found the protagonist to be frustratingly stupid at times. Also, I figured almost everything out about halfway through the book. Despite these things, it was still pretty entertaining and was a pleasant diversion on a rainy day.

This is a difficult one. The book grabbed me straight away, it's definitely a page turner. What was disappointing was how stupid I found Zoe the damsel in distress. I read thrillers more than any other genre so I'm quite hard to please. There is a bit of twist but frustrating that I was working it all out way before the main character. I've made this a pick because I'm quite demanding when reading thrillers. This was my V for #LitsyAtoZ

This book slowly built towards the tension and threats, throwing the connections and revelations down in one foul swoop. I wasn't overly drawn into the story at any point and really should have given up on it sooner. ⭐️⭐️/5 #liveandlearn

This year my mom and I adopted the Icelandic tradition of Jolabokaflod or "The Christmas Book Flood." We each made a list of books we were interested in and bought off those lists!

Mine was this lovely paperback here! And now I will settle in with my Christmas book and enjoy Jolabokaflod!

Happy Holidays Litsy!

This was a really great read. The story kept me reading and I finished it quickly. I enjoyed the main character, Zoe, and wanted things to work out for her. I enjoyed the brief look back at Zoe's past through out the story. I'd never read Kate Moretti before, but may have to try some of her older books!
