Reads like a criminal minds episode. Thriller with some unexpected twists. I can finally take this off my tbr list.
I really liked this book. Great story, great characters, suspenseful. I did feel like it wrapped up a bit fast but altogether a recommend. 👍🏼
DNF. I don‘t usually give up on a book but this was way too detailed. The main character was not likable. 199 pages in and it didn‘t feel like it was going anywhere. I only read this because my library was doing a date with a book for valentines. The book was wrapped in valentines paper so all I knew about it, was that it was an adult thriller.
Great book. History is not my forte and I learned a lot about President Garfields life and assassination. It angers me to know the ignorance and conceit of his doctor was also a cause to his death. It also angers and saddens me to know that political corruption is the same now as it was then, except there is way much more money involved now. Long, long, gone are the days when great men wanted what was best for the nation.
Nice story. In all situations humans need and long for contact with others. Good but not great book, in my opinion.
Finished this trilogy in 4 days. Wow!! Suspenseful till the end. I liked the characters, the going back in time to where it all begin, the mystery, the tension, the danger, I loved it all. Highly recommend.
Now I need to rest my eyes for a day or two. 👀 😂
Wow!! This book is so suspenseful. I don‘t know what took me so long to read it. I‘m hoping the other two from the trilogy are just as epic.
It‘s a definite ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The premise of the story was promising but it never turned into a solid storyline. It felt like lots of rambling about the people living in the commune. It‘s a very long story that could have been told in half the size of the book. I will read another book from this author so he can redeem himself in my eyes. 😉
Lots of food for thought in this book. As always justice works for those who have money. I can only hope that karma is handed out in abundance for those who are complicit in the unjust system. It‘s a must read for all.
Fast paced story with lots of characters. Deals with the opioid crisis in America today. Sad to know that probably a lot of what was written is true of the characters. Not my favorite of the series but I do believe and enjoy that there are law enforcement out there that are like him in wanting to right the wrongs done to innocent people.
Loved the history of the people in the book and thought the author did a good job in portraying them. It was a little technical with the number of battalions, regiments, companies and other military descriptions but I don‘t read much military history books so not hard for me to be a little overwhelmed. It‘s sad to know that these men wanted to be known as Americans even while fighting for their country and yet still being discriminated.
How can you feel sorry for people on one hand but then say, ugh why, on the other? This book points out major problems in the poor and housing. There is no easy fix and my heart hurts to know in the end it is the children who suffer the most. And those children grow up to be some very disenchanted adults.
Loved it!! I usually don‘t get spooked from reading but this one had me on edge late last night in a room by myself. 😱 Was happy to see Holly(bill hodges series) brought into the book.
This is my first true crime book and I was disappointed. The timeline was disjointed and at times more history on the author than the actual crime. I do feel bad that she didn‘t live long enough to see he had been caught.
First, trigger alert on abuse. Second, major disappointment on this book. Butterfly garden was creepy, roses of May was good but not as intriguing. This book was very predictable, the constant description of the FBI agents relationships was repetitive and unprofessional. The storyline got lost on the main character. Only thing I liked was reading the progress of the girls from the butterfly garden. Very disappointed.
Heartbreaking and horrifying but should be read by every woman. It‘s a shame that this book and stories of these women are not known more. The killing, even to the very end, even after Hitler is dead and they are surrounded by the Russians and Allies, is something I will never understand.
There is no comparison to what happened to them.
Makes me proud and scared(because it it a mans world most of the time) to be a woman.
Wow! Why did I leave this on my tbr list for so long? Age old debate, are some people born evil? Nature vs nurture. Definitely lots to think about.
Stephen King fans! Not sure if this has been posted yet. Go to his website to get the free story. Sorry I don‘t know to link on here. 😬
This is my first Harry Hole book so no preconceived notions on what to expect. I thought this book was creepy in the description of the snowmen and murders. I read books like this a lot but this one actually gave me a nightmare. It did drag on in certain parts but otherwise great story with good characters.
The lack of human compassion that businesses and corporations have because of the almighty dollar is sickening and yet it still continues to this day. These women are true heroes of change!! ❤️
Good, fast read. We always ask why someone commits a crime even if it doesn‘t make sense. Even if it will never make sense...🤷🏻♀️
That‘s how I felt after reading this book.
Quick easy read. Suspenseful. I rooted for Polly but her constant manipulation left a bad taste.
This book is very Girl on a train and The woman in cabin 10. I did not like those books. I‘m starting to think I have a problem with alcoholic women. 😉😂. I didn‘t like the structure of the book or the constant movie lines. The storyline was good but I couldn‘t get myself to like the main character.
My high schooler had to read this for an essay. It‘s been on my tbr for a long time so I read it after him. He‘s not much of a reader so it was nice to be able to talk to him about the book. Great book. Don‘t know why it took me so long to read it. It would be a very sad world for me if books, even books I didn‘t agree with were destroyed.
Great book. Lots of interesting facts. Well written, kept me hooked from beginning to end. Wish I had read it a lot sooner.
This book follows The Butterfly Garden. It is a whole different storyline but does include some of the characters from the previous book and does offer some closure. This book was good but not as captivating and creepy as the first one. This was more typical serial killer type.
Loved it. Reminds me of how lucky I am to be a woman living in this country. Pop sugar challenge "a book set in two different time periods", ✅
Just finished this for the pop sugar reading challenge. I like a good mystery and with Agatha Christie of the few books I've read of hers, the mystery is unpredictable until the very end. I love that! Some books you can figure out the mystery/plot very quickly and it makes finishing the book hard. 😬#allisnotlost
Loved this!! Definite on the edge of my seat page turner. Popsugar reading challenge, book with a title that's a character. #nohouseworkgotdonetoday
#takeoutpizzafordinner👍🏼🤓
Cute kids story about kids just wanting to know the truth. I didn't understand the parents not wanting to take handouts. I would take a handout from a homeless person to make sure my kids have what they need.
First book of 2017 for the Popsugar reading challenge. A book with a red spine. Very funny, captivating and adventurous book of a spry old man. I liked the way the book jumped from present to past with adventures in both settings.
My first time doing a Popsugar reading challenge. I went above the 40 on the challenge. My brain is fried till 2017!!
😜😉😂🤓📚📖📕📗📘📙
Currently reading. I should be Christmas shopping but reading keeps getting in the way. @Liberty
#booksfromSteinbeck Thanks for the chance to win
This had been on my to read list for a long time. Good book. Considering today's date, as wrong as it was, it doesn't surprise me that there was so much fear of the unknown.
What kind of monster would do this to a book?! 😕Checked this book out from the library and it made me sad. Anything can be a bookmark, why dog ear a book?!
Read this book in high school and then again for my book reading challenge. Was very into V.C. Andrews back in the day. #bookreadingchallenge#throwback
Loved it!! Always heard about this book but not till my Popsugar reading challenge did I actually read it. Had to watch the movie afterwards and was disappointed. 😕
