Day 21
#ABookADay2024
This was pretty decent! It‘s hard to fool me, which is why no one likes to watch murder mysteries with me. This book had me spinning in circles. I couldn‘t trust my instincts, even when my instincts turned out to be right, I was STILL thinking I was chasing a red herring. This is 7th in the Harry Hole detective series, but that didn‘t affect the reading. July‘s #BookSpin #BarnesNobleChallenge About a Murder
This book was suspenseful, violent, and chilling (get it? get it? sorry, I couldn‘t help myself).
This was my first Jo Nesbø novel and I found it quite compelling. It was well-crafted with lots of false leads that he tied up well at the end. It did feel a little too crafted at times, rather than unfolding in the seamless, organic way a good mystery sometimes will, but maybe that‘s just me reading too many mysteries and recognizing the tricks.
I really like this description of how psychiatric diagnoses are made.
OMG. I was on the edge of my seat so much of this book. I finished and am still unsettled.
Due at the library on Tuesday so I figure I‘ll start today 😂 #roll100 number 86
No biggie. Just me meeting the witty & gracious Jo Nesbo at Bouchercon. A rock star of Nordic noir, he is an actual former rock star. I am definitely not fan girl-ing. Nope. #authors #bouchercn
I bought this for the hype, and should have learnt from my previous mistakes
@Gissy I sent your #CBBC package yesterday and it should be there on Friday.
Our snow all melted over the weekend and yesterday we got a bunch more. My son has been waiting for packy snow to make a snowman and we finally got that. #Coffeebeanbookclub

1. Not my favorite Harry Hole but still a great addition to the series.
2. Snowy weather, yes. Cold weather, no.
3. The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey has been on my To Be Finished pile for a long time.

Nordic Noir is one of my fav genres so excited for this. @Butterfinger @Texreader
I was given the advice to read The Snowman as my first Jo Nesbo novel and if I liked it I could start the series at his third book as the first two apparently aren't any good. (More on that later)
This book follows a dectetive trying to solve what may or may not be a string of murders. It is scary, intense and the story moves quickly with several twists I really didn't forsee. Needless to say, I started his first novel the next day.
This book kept me guessing! Page-turning, spooky mystery!
"Did you know that darkness has a taste, Grandma?"
*shivers* Creeps me right the heck out! ⛄
Not usually into detective type reads, but this one seemed seasonally appropriate. I liked it. It was a little bit overly complicated, but entertaining nonetheless. ⛄
This is the best of the Harry Hole series (so far!). Fast-paced, with lots of twists and turns that keep you guessing to the end. If you are looking to try Nordic crime fiction to see what its like, I recommend starting with this one- it can be read as a standalone if you haven't read the earlier books in the series!

Decided to continue on with the Harry Hole series! This is supposed to be the best one! ⛄⛄
One of the best Harry Hole books. Creepy Norwegian serial killer.
I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.
Day 116

This book was SO good! I loved it even though I guessed who the Snowman was about half way through. It didn‘t bother me like it would normally because it was such a good read regardless. I love the Harry Hole character
I‘ve ready a couple of books by this author. I‘m 100 pages into this one and, so far, I‘m not disappointed.
Sunday quarantine and relax☀ï¸

Nothing says happy holidays like creepy snowmen and a hunt for a Norwegian serial killer. I listened to the audio so at first I didn't realize that some chapters were flashbacks, but it all made sense eventually. The main detective is a bit of a cliche, but the mystery itself was very enjoyable. The pacing was great and the climax was very well written. #WinterGames #HolidayRead #SlayBells @MidnightBookGirl @StayCurious @Clwojick

My first in the Harry Hole series and I quite enjoyed this!! I've already got the movie lined up to watch haha!
Was it completely a surprise? No. Did I fall for every moment of "oh no, please not that/her/him" etc. 100%
On the verge of ??? at least one good time (anyone who has read this knows what I'm talking about!). Anyway, pretty sure I'll continue reading in series which is kind of impressive as I'm not one to do series.
The first for my scary-reads month!
It was ok... I‘m not a huge fan of detective novels, but I chose to read this one to fulfill a category on the Popsugar challenge. There were a lot of characters in this book… So it got a little confusing. Wasn‘t terrible...wasn‘t great 🤷ðŸ¼â€â™€ï¸
Me: I need to read my library books, read books for @LibrarianRyan ‘s challenge, read books for @GatheringBooks ‘ questions...
Also me: Read this new-to-you book instead.
#translation. #BookishBingo.
I didn‘t do so great with April. This one looks more promising. 😂
My first May finish. ( which was almost finished yesterday) While this is really not my genre, I enjoyed this book to movie book. I may even try to watch the movie. #mayMadness #booked2019 #summer. #booktomovie #MayScavengerHunt
Turned out, the plot wasn‘t as complicated as I expected but it was still good to listen to it in as few sittings as possible.
I like the inspector and all his personal stuff: addiction and family ties. The more I came to know the personnel, the less the story felt plot-driven.
Nice to now know that the series consists of books that stand for their own so that I can read without taking care if it‘s the correct order.
#BookishGoal 50.
Seems, this one will get very complicated.
• Many, many characters that here and there do have similar names. (Or is it just me who thinks that because I am unfamiliar with Scandinavian names and languagesâ“🤔)
• Different time levels – if I‘m not completely wrong, I identified two or three of them.
So I decided to listen to this audiobook as much as I can to not lose the thread. Seems, the „Tapirtier“ has to wait a bit.
