#currentlyreading Wigrum by Daniel Canty for #styleexchange which is part of the #genreswapPBC! It's an experimental fiction novel of sorts where an enigmatic man leaves behind 100 objects after the 1944 London bombing. This flash fiction is my favorite so far. There's so much wonder, darkness, strange ordinariness, and magic imbued in all these items' stories. I almost don't want to let this book go but it'd be a shame if it's not shared.

For #asianlitbingo I read #monstress by marjorie liu & sana takeda which crossed out #graphicnovel with an #asian main character. What a visceral, striking, and overwhelming experience. It's probably the goriest and most gruesome #comicbook I ever read but it's also the most beautiful. I love that juxtaposition! I want more even tho it hurts to read. I can't wait to purchase the second volume.

This impactful #book of #flashfiction is so damn delightful and strange. Basically Losowsky took photos of doorbells in florence and wrote these tales of their owners. The captivating photos and Joel Holland's incredible handlettering make this such a special book.This work makes me want to write and create my own project where I collect images or trinkets. A fun challenge that would push me to get out and stretch my imagination a little.

What a wonderful, lush book. I wanna write essays like Ander Monson. They're so vivid, brimming, and alive. And i hope one day ill find my own first book at my first library. Monson makes me want to write

I really enjoyed this memoir. Tho I felt there wasn't enough build up to the conclusion but still, the line drawings are beautiful and I loved the care and attention in the footnotes. It was utterly fascinating to see how each object comes to mean to Stephanie Lacava. I related to her depression & anxiety and it was actually soothing to read. Like a salve. It makes me want to observe & pick my own worthwhile objects. I'd love to read more of her.

#currentlyreading It's a lush, bright world and while I don't understand 90% of the allusions, I truly adore #reading this #book. It's a series of essays on the meaning and mysteries of #libraries throughout history, beginning with #albertomanguel's extraordinary #library in the French countryside. I plan on abandoning it in public along with The 351 books of Irma Arcuri, a small gift, and a written work for #abandonedB2BC. I can't wait to finish!

I'm reading this awesome mystery and thriller by @EricQiao and I actually wish I done it sooner. He dialogue is witty and I laughed and smiled quite a bit. I'm really enjoying the language he uses and the imagery is awesome. I don't normally read mysteries but this is making me want to dive into more of them. I'm also intrigued by all I'm learning by China and the protagonist. Like why does he want publicity so badly? He's so interesting to read.

#funfridayphoto I am loving this book! As silly as this cover looks, the entrails can be so hard hitting, emotional, and so poignant! It's also very creative and inventive. I can go from laughing my ass off to wanting to cry on the subway, all in one sitting! I cannot wait to read more of Kathleen founds' work! What an incredible, talented author!

About to dive into this much acclaimed short story collection. Ted Chiang will actually be at Asian American Writers' Workshop on the 15th, Friday in NYC. And the film adaptation of his story "story of your life" will be released his year with Amy McAdams & Forest Whitaker. YUH!

Fun photo Friday! I love reading experimental, unconventional books! Any that break the form and do it in a way that's essential to the narrative. Some exciting, underrated ones are a life in books by warren Lehrer, double game by Sophie Calle, and the pickle index by Eli Horowitz & Ian huebert. 💖

Library book haul: Father's Day by Simon Van Booy, high dive by Jonathan Lee, an extraordinary theory of objects: a memoir of an outsider in Paris by Stephanie lacava, and radiance by catherynne m valente. Plus Crimson peak DVD by Guillermo del toro. Might take Lee's class & lacava's looks great! 😍

I really like this definition of "peminism". As a Filipina American aka pinay, I identify with this a lot more than white feminism since the latter isn't intersectional at all. And it's necessary and significant to call an identity & pov of my own. I wish I read this earlier but I'm glad I am now.
