Where the Stars Rise: Asian Science Fiction and Fantasy | Fonda Lee

Every day I bring home a baguette, and maybe some meat & vegetables if I‘ve run out, and I have a sandwich while I listen to a couple stories from the tagged book. One of today‘s was an intense Warchild-universe story by Karin Lowachee.

Today‘s baguette came from a bakery established in 1889. It was good, but the less established shop around the corner from me does a better one. #audiocooking

The Afterword provides information about Filipino Sign Language and how it is distinct from American Sign Language. This was a fun heist story!

The premise is basically Crazy Rich Asians meets Ocean‘s Eight, which I loved. The plot is essentially a mashup of the two. I thought the story was super entertaining and amusing. I wasn‘t shocked at any of the twists and turns at the end because it was slightly reminiscent of Ocean‘s Eight‘s heist.
