This poetry book is about a boy who has a connection with a tree but it is much deeper than that. This book has many meanings behind it and I️ think it would be great to use with kids to analyze. This RF book is about a boy in 5th grade who makes his own word up for pen (frindle). After he makes that word up it becomes a known word around the school and the world. I️ loved this book when I️ was younger because I️ use to make up words when I️ was younger as well so I️ thought it was cool to see that in a book. Here‘s a lesson plans for 3-5 https://www.varsitytutors.com/englishteacher/frindle-lesson-plans

lburgos9 @Brittney3 Thanks Brittney for posting this book! I also read this book when I was younger. The author has other books I‘m sure you‘ve read when you were younger also. #UCFWalterslit 7y
Caitlin4 This sounds like a cool book. I'll have to add it to my list. 7y
Kirsten.Pacheco This book was one I also read growing up and it is cool because it teaches kids to be original and silly. They don‘t always have to be try so hard to be “cool” and “popular” because most of the time just being you is enough to be cool and have friends! 7y
Linsayesp @Brittney3 According to what everyone is saying it‘s an awesome book to read. This is going to be my next class novel to read in whole group. 7y

lizzie0922 @Brittney3 I love this book so much it takes me back to when I was 5 years old and my mom reading the book to me. I also like the link you provided with the book, it gives great ideas to incorporate in the classroom lesson #UCFWaltersLit 7y
BLYTHE44 @blythe44 What a great story for kids to read. I can‘t think of anyone person who doesn‘t have some flaw or self-esteem issue that they are dealing with. I love books like this that let us know that it‘s OK not to be perfect and be who you are. #UCFWalterslit (edited) 7y
Kirsten.Pacheco This is a great book to teach students that not everyone is perfect, in fact nobody is, and that‘s okay! Being ourselves is what makes us perfect in our own way! Also, your resource is interactive so that makes it even more awesome! 7y
Linsayesp @Brittney3 this is one of my all time favorite books for younger children. It teaches them that it‘s okay not to be perfect. 7y

ojavier1974 Yes, this is great story. I work in a middle school and have the experience on how they stay to themselves when not in class with their assistant.. 7y
TanishaRosa I also enjoyed reading this book; the illustrations really captured the emotions of the characters. I think the topics in this book like friendship and trying to fit in at school can be relatable for many kids. 7y

Erica.rivera I really enjoyed reading this book! When I first saw how it was I told myself this book is going to boring and it wouldn't catch my eye. But it did and I really enjoyed the read and the message. Cece is such a great character that students can see and read the struggles she has faced with being death. This book is definitely going to be in my library ! 7y
