If you have to read just one book this year, then make it this one.

The story centres around Sam Holloway, a 26 year old bloke living an average life... apart from the fact that he dresses up as a Superhero in his spare time.

Factor in a tragic past, two goofy, loveable friends & a love interest & you get one of the most touching books I have read.

It is wonderfully written and you can't help falling in love with Sam. Warning: Tissues required.

When I read the first few pages I just was not pushed. I thought it was contrived and a bit "insta-lovey". Didn't think the romance was for me... but I was so wrong. This is a beautifully written book based on string theory (yeah, romance and theoretical physics!) and how differently things would pan out for us in parallel universes. Such a unique concept for a romance book. The stories kept me riveted and were very thought provoking. ****/5

Before We Say Goodbye | Madeleine Reiss

"At some point on the drive home, with the rain beating against the windscreen and the trees looking as if they had no memory of leaves past and leaves to come, feeling weakened by what he hadn't been able to say, he made a resolution. He would find her someone to love so that she wouldn't be alone when he wasn't there anymore."

Please read this book.

I don't know whether I love this book because I read it at the right time or not but it's so heartwarming and just... real.

I loved the characters and in particular, Buzz. I kind of want to go out and get a Greyhound now!

If you're wanting an uplifting read (well I needed tissues a few times...) then please read this book!

P.S Gutted there is no sequel! Lucy Dillon, sort this out 🙈

30% of the way through the third book in The Wheel of Time Series.

Really enjoyable series so far but do I read a different book after finishing this or keep going with the series? Hmmm... 🤔

After much badgering from my partner, I finally started the WoT series.

P.S I may hate to admit that I'm actually enjoying The Eye of the World so far 🙈

The Danish Girl | David Ebershoff

Beautifully written book based on a true story about a young artist struggling with his identity. This was stunningly written and Ebershoff's descriptions of some scenes in the book are soothing and almost melodic. The end broke my heart and left me thinking about little Lili for days afterwards but the message the book conveys is beautiful - always be the truest version of yourself... 4/5

Where do I start with a book as beautiful as this? Winman writes such a magical narrative so effortlessly that I felt like I had been transported back in time, I could almost smell the sea and the bread her descriptions were that good. Soothing, beautiful, moving & magical, this book took my breath away. I feel like I won't quite be able to forget this one in a hurry. Please read it & cherish it. 5*+++

This was a bit too twee for me... 😁 The main characters, Penny and Henry really got on my last nerve. I felt like their relationship was rushed. Henry's fixation on his daughter's happiness was really, REALLY irritating! I didn't hate it, I liked the first half but the second half was a chore 😁 The side story with Henry's boss could have been MUCH more interesting! Tip: Don't read if you don't don't like corny predictable endings 🙄

Unravelling Oliver | Liz Nugent

Excellent debut novel from Liz Nugent. If you like the current trend of "domestic noir" then you'll thoroughly enjoy this. As someone who has a keen interest in behavioural and abnormal psychology I really loved delving into the mind of the protagonist, Oliver who I believe was a victim of circumstance. You really feel empathy for a lot of the characters in this book and I would have loved to have read more about them. 3/4*

I have just finished wiping away tears of joy. This is a fabulous book! Initally I bought it because I liked the synopsis but the cover does it no justice (I know, I know, I shouldn't judge it on that!) but it didn't matter because it's a wonderful, sweet read. I really cared about the characters especially the protagonist, Emma. You will laugh and you will cry. I adored it 💕 It had so many good twists as well. A huge, massive thumbs up from me!

Strangely, Incredibly Good | Heather Grace Stewart

This was, for me strangely, incredibly shite... 👎🏻 Personally I only read it because I'm quite stubborn and I don't like giving up on books plus it was quite a short read... thank god! Heather Grace Stewart can write quite eloquently but why she wrote this contrived tripe is beyond me? The character's were stereotypical, two-dimensional and unlikeable. It didn't make me feel good, it wasn't funny at all either. Harsh but true 💔

Consequences | Aleatha Romig

Pickpick

Romig's book has a blurb that reads like that of 50 Shades of Grey and which after reading Consequences will make you feel rather irked because it is so much more than that. In fact it is nothing like that, it really is not what you'd expect... Intense, thrilling and so underrated. Just read it!
