So fantastic on audible!

This is told from the viewpoint of a 10 year old girl who goes to live with her “granddaddy” in Michigan for the summer. I thought it was pretty dull.

Don‘t judge this book by its cover. It‘s an awesome story of a female chemist born well before her time in the 1950‘s who fights for women‘s equality at home, in the workplace, schools, etc.

EH2018 The cover did not do this book justice 2y

Ultimately this was about the power of a story. A story from 400 b.c. and the connection between the lives of Anna and Omeir in 1400, Zeno and Seymour 1970-2020, and Konstance from the future.

I‘ve enjoyed her other books, but this one misses the mark for me.

This had time travel, pandemic, and mind bending views about what our future may look like. It was a very cool book!

I decided to try this classic. Should I move on to Lord of the Rings?

Pachinko was a little slow, but I always enjoy a multi-generational saga.

The Bluest Eye | Toni Morrison

This was my first Toni Morrison book. It was beautifully written.

CuriousG I think this is the perfect one to start reading Toni Morrison. My first was Beloved (which is amazing, but a tough go), followed by The Bluest Eye. I always felt like I should have reversed the order. 2y

Currently in Hawaii, so read Molokai on the flight over. Good story and history of how leprosy patients were sentenced to live on the island of Molokai to prevent spread of disease. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was very violent but I loved the message of accepting people for who they really are and it‘s never too late to change for the better.

The Plot | Jean Hanff Korelitz

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I thought this was pretty predictable but I still enjoyed the storyline. The Plot is about a washed up author who hears a storyline from one of his students that he knows will be a hit. Years later he finds out that student has died, so he writes the story and enjoys all the fame. Many twists and turns after that.

I hate to say it, but I didn‘t enjoy this book. I wanted to but it was just okay for me. Without giving any spoilers it is about a famous children‘s book author that goes missing, a PI that goes searching for her, and a strange community living “off the grid” in the wilderness.

I watched and loved this movie years ago. This short story (about 150 pages) was so great. Most people know the story of Andy Dufresne who is wrongly convicted of murdering his wife and lover and his time spent in Shawshank maximum security prison.

Blueberry 💜 book and movie 2y

Later | Stephen King

I love Stephen King, so in my mind he really can‘t go wrong. This wasn‘t really a thriller. Story of a boy who can see ghosts just trying to live a normal life. But when others find out his ability they want to use those powers. Easy, quick read. Not typical for SK.

This was a story of two brothers trying to travel across the country to start a new life. The many adventures and friendships that occur along the way made for an interesting and sweet story. I enjoyed it but was also ready to move on. Reminded me of a John Irving book.

This was a great book to finish 2021. The story of a 17 year old and 83 year old who are both dying. Together they intertwine the story of their lives - 100 years.

Once there were wolves was a beautiful winter book. I read it in one day and don‘t usually read that fast! I‘ve heard her other book is great too, Migrations.
