I think I was hoping for more of a man vs nature vs man... but definitely man vs man in a very dark way. Very good still.

One of my new favourite books. Basically “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” — in space.
I have been listening to a fabulous podcast ‘You Must Remember This‘ about the drama of the golden age of Hollywood. The Manson murders come up a lot so I was intrigued to read a different take on it. And it certainly was intriguing. Lots of detailed descriptions set the mood of the time. The main character is fascinating and while I think there are parts of her we can all relate to, she was not a sympathetic character which can be frustrating.
This one will sit with me for a long time.. atmospheric, slow burn best read on hot summer days. Artfully written.
So great at making other people‘s lives interesting... and sympathetic. Novels that span generations usually not my thing but I very much enjoyed this.
An enjoyable quick read with a good amount of coding lingo and character development.. kind of a ‘stranger things‘ meets ‘ready player one‘
Late to the bandwagon but how could I not fall in love with this as a child of the 80s and a lover of science fiction ???
The Martian was going to be hard to follow-up but honestly I think he did it again. Loved the science almost as much as the feisty Jazz.
So entertaining!! But also smart and thoughtful. Can‘t wait for this to be a movie. One of my fav reads this year.
A nice departure from my post-apocalyptic run of reads... she really does tell great stories through the eyes of 12 year olds. A 1970s To Kill A Mockingbird?
