Not quite as good as book one, but a nice sequel that ties things up at the end. More music than movies in this one.

February Bookly Reading Report. I read 23 books in February.
I was a bit disappointed in this book. I really enjoyed the first book while looking forward to reading this one. I would have given up on it but I did the audiobook and Will Wheaton was amazing.
Book 28/100 of the year.
I enjoyed this one, but I‘m not sure I like the ending. I know that some people believe it would be great to live forever, but I‘m not one of them. If you‘ve ever watched The Good Place, then you know how it ends. That‘s what I‘d like for myself.
I spent the weekend in the OASIS. The first one was as good as I remembered and in the second, I felt a little bogged down by the pop culture references (seven shards vs. three keys), and the ending left me a little disturbed. But I don‘t read much sci-fi, so maybe that‘s the norm?
I loved Ready Player One, ready for my second installment!
BEST BOOK I‘VE READ ALL YEAR! 5/5 ⭐️ Such a nod to nerds! (Like me 🤓) Now that is how you make a sequel!! 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
My husband and I are listening to this audiobook on our road trip. Wil Wheaton reading this makes it even better. The John Hughes section was delightful!! I love Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles. So fun!
This started really slow The first third of the book was technical info setting up the rest of the story. It was not as good as the first in the series, but still a decent read.
A badly drawn comic book- strange that I even finished it…
I checked this out forever ago and put off starting it because I knew I wouldn‘t be able to put it down. I‘m already halfway through it and making great progress on it this lazy weekend. 🤓
This was fine? I mean it was cool, the way it left off immediately from book one, and then took you forward after that to see what became of the original gang. However as usual it‘s crowded with references and stuff and that does get a little tiring for me. Cool plot, too much detail, hope it becomes a movie. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Not as interesting as Ready Player One and certainly got bogged down in a few sections.
Not as good as the first. Just really drawn out and nothing really new was happening for me. I just didn‘t care for the way this one was done. I found it boring and hard to get through which was super disappointing because I loved the first one so much!
This book was highly entertaining, but I couldn‘t take it as seriously as the first one. It felt like the author was more interested in jamming in as many pop culture references as possible than working on plot points.
It was chaotic energy, and I never knew what was gunna happen next - which is bad writing in my opinion, but highly fun to read if you just sit back and enjoy the ride.
To be completely honest I was kind of disappointed in this one. I wanted to like because i was a fan of the first one. But I just could not get into it. I think Wade reverts to the version of himself from the first book (and not in a good way). I was really looking forward to this when it came out but after reading it I was definitely let down by it #bookreview #booktube #reading
This novel was a great book about how teenagers won a billionaires contest and became the owners of the largest company called the oasis but with the release of the new ONI. It become very clear that issues were going to arise and they did. This story is shown through the eyes of wade using a first person point of view established using the pronouns I or me. I would definitely recommend this book to those who like technology based fiction books.
So far I am enjoying this. I LOVED Ready Player One, and Armada. I anticipate I will love this too.
Straddling the “pick” vs. “so-so” on this one, but ultimately going with Pick. No, of course it‘s not as good as Ready Player One because that was amazing and there‘s just no way a sequel could ever be as good. But I don‘t think this deserves quite the bad rep it‘s gotten. Cline does try too hard sometimes w/ the 80‘s references, but there were still some moments of genius in there. Didn‘t care for the epilogue, tho.
i enjoyed making this my first read of the year, while it did start a bit slow once the action picked up it was very easy to get through. i definitely enjoyed the original more, but it was still fun to see a continuation of the story. while it‘s definitely not my favorite, I don‘t regret reading it
In this novel wade after winning a contest tells the friends about the new release of the ONI more problems begin to arise. Overall I am hooked with this book it got me because of all the excitement from ready player one. I do think that you need to read or watch ready player one to understand this book because a lot of it relays off the first book. Overall I think the book is great and am really looking forward to finishing it. I‘d rate it 4.5/5
Currently reading Ready Player Two. A Gentleman in Moscow took me a long time to get through, but I'm really glad I read it. A Walk in the Woods was good, but suffered from having been written 25 years ago. If you can get past the misogyny and fat shaming, the rest is interesting.
I know this book has gotten its fair share of hate, but I really enjoyed it! I absolutely LOVED Ready Player One, and while this isn‘t quite as good, it‘s still a fun ride. At least it was for me! The Pretty In Pink and the Prince chapters were awesome!

I'm calling this one a pick, overall, but I have to admit, it was a bit of a slog through parts of it. It did pay off, but it took a bit of tenacity to get through to the end.
Cooler weather calls for homemade bean soup and a good book!
I'm still undecided on the book, though. This one drags on a bit more than the original, I think, but the characters and the adventure are enough to keep me going for the moment. Hoping for a strong ending!
The blogging slump seems to be very stubborn indeed, but at least I'm baking again? 🤷♀️ I made these mini #boterkoek pies/cookies today as I was feeling nostalgic. #ambaking 🥧🍪
Yeah I really enjoyed this book. Some people say it‘s not as good as the first one and yeah I can see where they‘re coming from, but this matches perfectly the effort that the original put in. It also looks at the dangers of virtual reality to a greater degree. I really like this book,
Feeling sad about this one. I loved the first book and recommend it frequently. This one, though - man, what a slogfest 😔. At least I can cross it off my tbr list. It was my October #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks
The author tried hard to make it just like Ready Player One, but didn't succeed at capturing the same excitement. The book dragged on without having any good moments.
I got a new job at the library!!! This is my first check-out with my staff card 👾 I‘ve been so excited to read this 🤓
I‘d give this a 3/5. Another review mentioned that Wade‘s self-flagellation in the first part of the book gets tedious. And it really does. I enjoyed the quest for the Seven Shards although as much as I love Prince, that section seemed long. And I dozed during the Tolkien part but that is normal for me. Still, I enjoyed it and if there is a movie made, would probably watch it.
My physical book pile for #deweys24hourreadathon! These are from past hauls because I bought an ebook reader two months ago and have been glued to it since. (I have a separate pile for ebooks😅)
I‘ve been following the group for years but it‘s the first time I‘m finally participating!

Reread Ready Player One and it's still great, but Ready Player Two suuuuucks sooooooo baaaaaad. I wanted to like it, but it's unlikable. Save yourself the frustration and skip it, even if you're a fan of the first one. It's just bad. 😬🤷♀️

Man, this podcast is cathartic after being the only person in my book club who just really hated Ready Player Two. This podcast is like Mystery Science Theater/Rifftrax for bad books. After this one I may read along with Midnight Sun (I love Twilight but also know it‘s garbage, lol).
The beginning is really slow, full of angsty exposition & self loathing, also hints at action, then nothing happens. Saying that, the last half made it worth it.
The High Five band together to save the OASIS (after bringing about the cause of the crisis to being with) after users are trapped by new ONI headsets that allow users to experience the OASIS like never before. Anarak is back with a very Frankenstein-esque plan & only Wade can stop him.
So. I mean... it had a “good“ ish story toward the end (when they got to the point), but... I know the whole references nostalgia thing is the main thing with that, but... ugh... took so long to deal with it! Like too long! Or I just didn't care. Anyway, this was my #DoubleSpin Book

So, my husband and I listened to Ready Player One on one of our road trips, he liked it. I hated it.. It had a lot of “look at me, I am super nerdy and that makes me cool and you are stupid for not knowing obscure 80s references“. He told me Ready Player Two was “better“ .. We got it on audible, he listened, I hadn't .. It's been sitting on my back burner, but.. I had been meaning to .. here goes.

There is not a cloud in the sky and hardly any breeze and it is so HOT. We‘re not an extreme heat zone. It‘s literally snowed during every month of the year here. My sister is celebrating this heatwave by finally joining Litsy after years of me talking about it. She‘s @BRB_ImReading and she hasn‘t posted anything yet 😬 but she will. Sometimes she even recommends good books 😂
I really loved Ready Player One so this was quite a big disappointment for me. It tried too hard to replicate the magic of the first and flopped.
This one seemed like a really slow starter! It‘s taken me weeks to get 100 pages in and now I am finally feeling okay, let‘s do this and read this book. Current assessment is first 100 pages are a bit of a slog.
Trying to finish my book with a yummy drink. I‘ve enjoyed this book so far, hopefully the end is good.
This teetered between a soft pick and a so-so. It's too long and seriously drags in several parts. The first part of the book, where Wade goes from loveable underdog of RPO to rich arrogant douche bag of RPT, almost had me ready to bail. Things picked up once the quest began and the high stakes started ticking down. I found the ending a major let down. Wil Wheaton's narration is excellent as usual.

I‘m behind in postings completed books but I can‘t resist posting about this one even though I‘m not done. The world building in this is sooooo good! I really want to visit Shermer and the Afterworld!
