Esperanza Rising | Pam Munoz Ryan

I enjoyed "Esperanza Rising." To summarize it, it's about a girl who is treated like a princess who overcomes changes in her family as they move from her father's ranch in Mexico. She has to face hard changes in her life in order to adapt. It really is a soft story, and there was a lot of foreshadowing. However, I was fine with that because the foreshadowing presented symbols that embodied the book's morals and themes. It's a great book. 5/5

Kaylamburson I loved this book!! I read it in middle school for an assignment, and then I reread it as an adult and found it just as powerful and meaningful. 7y
MochiiMocha @Kaylamburson I agree! I read it in Elementary school while I was in fifth grade just so I can fill in an extra space for a writing prompt during the English hours. I'll be honest with you, I never understood it until I transitioned into my intermediate schools. That's when I REALLY began to like it; I was able to pick up a lot of context clues unlike before. 7y
Kaylamburson Yes, it's crazy how your understanding and views of a book can change in a handful of years! @Stargate 7y

MochiiMocha @Kaylamburson It is! It unfortunately is me when it comes to most books! I usually read them and become stunned and confused once I finish them. Then, before I know it, I begin to like it more and more as the months pass by because that's when everything begins to sink into my brain. It's a very unorthodox method to find a love for books; however, it's just how I work! Funny, right? 7y
Kaylamburson That is too funny! It means it really intrigued you if you're remembering them and still trying to comprehend them months down the line. Honestly, I have the opposite problem where I forget almost all the details of a book a day or two after finishing it. @Stargate 7y
MochiiMocha @Kaylamburson I understand that feeling! It happens to me on a couple of occasions. Especially when I'm reading books that are categorized as fantasies because the supernatural phenomenons that occur in there can be very incomprehensible for me! It happened to me when I was last reading "The Spiderwick Chronicles", the Warrior Cats series, and "Wings of Fire". 7y
Kaylamburson I'm glad I'm not the only one! Although it happens to me after reading almost every book, unless I absolutely loved it! I probably just need to slow down my reading, but there are so many amazing books, it's hard to make time for them all!! 7y

This book is absolutely lovely, and I wouldn't mind reading it again just for fun. This book is about Cassie and her little brothers going through traumatic experiences that take place during the 1900's where the Civil Rights movement was still thriving and prospering. This talks about how they are looked down upon and forced under slavery in addition as to how they overcome it all. This defines the true meaning of humanism and models the 1900s.

Hm... This book is alright, I suppose. I don't necessarily hate it. In fact, I found this book to be rather compelling and interesting on my part. However, I felt as if as the story progressed, I lost my grip on the plot twists and the story spiraled out of control. If you really like suspense and watching people cling onto the will to live, this is the book for you. I would say there are other books that are more deserving for the plot structure.

This is like my favorite type of book when it comes to the topic of intermediate schools and preparation. This book really reminds me of "Diary Of A Wimpy Kid" as well as "Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie." The main character undergoes many changes as he adjusts into middle school, and problems go down very quickly that can shatter his hopes and dreams of becoming an internet star. This book made me laugh so hard. I couldn't help but love it to pieces.

This book is so AMAZING!! I really loved reading and rereading this book, and I found the plot to be very intriguing and appealing to me. I really love the "Curiosity can bring people to great peril" vibe because it really does make a wonderful connection to reality. (The book is a million times better than the movie) I hope you give this a shot sometime soon! The lessons can only say so much about the truths of reality and human potential.

DebinHawaii Such a great book! 📚👍 7y
dreabooksit Love this book as well. Have you read the others in the "series?" They are good too but the Giver has a special place in my heart 7y
MochiiMocha @dreabooksit I actually have not... However, I actually am planning to soon. I have "Gathering Blue" in my Ebooks; although, I haven't touched it yet. But yeah! I really enjoyed the first book and thought it was great! It's probably one of the most in depth books I have ever read... In a way, it reminds me of the game "Portal" from the Half-Life series. It's pretty legit, and the M(C/P)s save their lives when they discovered something horrific. 7y
MochiiMocha @DebinHawaii I know right?? 7y

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's actually very relaxing as it is entertaining despite the many complications and conflicts that are later implemented in this book. It's really heartwarming as well to see the bond of two twins and an elderly couple strengthen as time moves on under their foster care. It kind of reminds me of a classical and original version of Despicable Me except that the roles are switched between the characters.

I absolutely ADORE "Flowers For Algernon." I read this in eighth grade, and I must say that I will never regret reading such a well-written book. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It's about a handicapped character named Charlie who takes special procedures in order to gain artificial intelligence in return. He undergoes many complications, and is exposed to many things that he would never see as his initial self.

I really did enjoy this book. It's very controversial. It's not everyone's cup of tea; however, books like this give you the opportunity to think on your own and create an original analysis of the whole plot line as well as the infamous MC who is known as Humbert Humbert. The book discusses about a highly sensitive topic in a very true way as you begin to dwell in the mind of the main character who turns out to become the antagonist.
