This was alright. Although I found some great points to takeaway and try to incorporate into my life, I found this book to be rather repetitive. And maybe I've just read too many books about mindset and habits, but I feel like it was all just a rehash of other books.

Smarter Faster Better | Charles Duhigg

I love Duhigg's writing style. He's great at keeping things relevant, succinct, and to the point. There were a lot of takeaways from this book that I hope to implement in my own life and work to become more productive.

The Outsider | Stephen King

This was really well-written and kept me on the edge of my seat. I want sure what to believe throughout the story and I liked the constant twists. One of King's better novels in my opinion.

Absolutely incredible book written about the scientific reasonings behind human timings. I never thought that a specific time of day could enhance or detract decision making skills...I thought that was solely based on exhaustion. There is tons of gold packed in this book!

This book made me feel so understood. I love that she had actionable items throughout that you could use to help yourself embrace your introversion.

I loved this book. This had probably become one of my favourite business books that I've read, up there with the Power of Habit. The fable in the first part of the book is really relatable and teaches without teaching. The deep dive in the dysfunctions afterwards is a great recap of everything that was covered. A 5 ⭐ read.

I actually really enjoyed this book. I was immediately taken by the characters and the plot. The main character is very relatable to me. My only issue is that there were a surprising amount of grammatical and spelling errors throughout. I will never understand how those get through the editing process. Even so, 4/5 ⭐ for me.

This was an alright book. Not as profound as I thought it would be. There were too many personal anecdotes, in my opinion, and I feel that took away from the overall lessons she was trying to instill. Not bad, just not great. 3.5/5

I actually really enjoyed this quick read. It's a little preachy about its points, but overall, I found it really inspirational and I hope to implement some old its tips right away.

A ridiculously quick read that is a cute comparison of complex thinking and simple thinking. I found the anecdote a little too simple, but the overall message was good.

This is such a powerful story in so few pages. Really great commentary on society that still stands today.

I picked up this book because I thought it might be an interesting read about what you can change in your life to be more successful. It has a few good tidbits, but overall is very repetitive and I was incredible distracted by the grammatical errors. For a multimillionaire, you'd think he could hire a decent editor.

This Is Where It Ends | Marieke Nijkamp

Heartbreaking, harrowing story that I think more people need to read. An all-to-real fictional novel about a school shooting, told from multiple perspectives. It's books like this that start important conversations about safety, guns, laws, government regulations, and the human spirit. 4/5 stars.

The first part of this book is actually really great. Steven delves into the deeper reasons as to why cutting is so attractive and addictive to people. The second part is where he lost me. He's a little self-righteous in his abilities as a therapist. Overall, though, not a bad read, and I still learned some.

Flowers for Algernon | Daniel Keyes

I was so unprepared for the emotional journey this book took me on. It's a really great read, if you can get past the slight misogynistic moments and derogatory terms that are used (remember, it was published in the 1950s). 4/5 stars.

A Monster Calls | Patrick Ness, Siobhan Dowd

Hands down the best book I've read in a very long time. Absolutely heart-wrenching and painfully honest. Ness has a beautiful style of writing that can tear your heart into pieces in a single sentence. Stunning.

Very relatable, as someone who also has anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I admire her bravery at talking about her journey to recovery and hope to be as open about it as her one day.

This is a really great middle grade novel about 14-year-old kids trying to make it to the South Pole for a reality TV show. It's a dystopian society and they're competing for prize money. Well-written with good characters. One of my favourites from my childhood.

This is another perfect collection of Sarah Scribbles comics. This also has a short essay (accompanied by comics) at the end that tells a longer story than her usual comics. Once again, she blows me away with her ability to create the most relatable comics.

I absolutely adored this collection of comics by Sarah Anderson. It's a very cute collection of relatable topics, especially if you're slightly socially awkward or introverted. Sarah Scribbles comics are 100% fantastic.

Pines | Blake Crouch
Pickpick

This was a mind-bending novel by a masterful writer. It was very fast-paced, and even though I was frustrated with Burke at times, you couldn't help but feel just as lost with him throughout. The ending caught me off guard and I'm still trying to figure out if I like the direction it went in, but I do plan to continue reading the trilogy, so I guess I will decide then.

The Chalk Man | C. J. Tudor
Pickpick

I would actually rate this as a split between pick and so-so, but choose to round up. For the most part, the story was fast-paced, with good twists and well-fleshed characters. The book goes back and forth from 1986 to 2016, building upon each other really well. My main issue with the book comes from the fact that you're never 100% sure that Ed is reliable (I hate unreliable protagonists) and the last twist was underwhelming. 3.5/5 stars.
