Giraffes can‘t Dance is a children‘s fiction book written by Giles Andreae about a giraffe named Gerald who decides to go to the Jungle Dance, but once he steps on the dance floor, the other animals laugh at him. Llama llama Red Pajama is a fiction book written by Anna Dewdney. This book is a rhyme read aloud about a llama that begins to worry when his mama goes downstairs. She comes back upstairs to set things right. I read this book for a read aloud and I think it‘s particularly beneficial for EL‘s. Definitely recommend for beginning readers. #UCFWaltersLit -fiction

The book is about a stuffed bear who wants to be bought but the mother of a girl who wants the bear says no because Corduroy is missing a button. Falling up is a poem/book written by Shel Silverstein. I found this poem to be relaxing because it‘s not focusing on meaning or depth, just having an imagination. I am Helen Keller is a biography written by Brad Meltzer. Helen Keller lost both her sight and hearing when she was only 19 months old. She had a teacher named Anne Sullivan who during one of their first lessons, gave Keller a doll and teached her how to spell ‘doll‘. I liked this book because it‘s children friendly and the use of pictures and comic type strips make the story engaging. #UCFWaltersLit -biography

Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry is a historical fiction book written by Mildred D. Taylor about an African American family living in rural Mississippi during a time of racial prejudice. I started this book a long time ago and finished it just recently. I found this book to be a mature read although it was first introduced to me in middle school. The Girl Who Drank the Moon is a Modern Fantasy written by Kelly Barnhill. This book initially interested me because it is not something I would normally read. The story follows Xan, who accidentally fed Luna moonlight instead of starlight, in which Luna becomes enmagicked. Flowers for Algernon is a science fiction book by Daniel Keyes about a man named Charlie Gordon who is developmentally lacking and has the opportunity to undergo a procedure to increase his intelligence. This procedure has already been done on a laboratory mouse named Algernon with incredible results.
