I enjoyed the book once I got going and agree it‘s a memoir that reads like a novel. But there were parts for me where I wanted more. A lot is left unsaid which left the experience feeling a little disjointed for me. It really is unlike any memoir I‘ve ever read. I‘ll probably be thinking about it for a while.

Wow. Super quick read, very well paced and true to Flynn‘s style keeps you guessing. I‘d love to hear what others think on this one..

I was surprised how much I liked this. I‘m new to adult graphic novels and tried this based on reviews. It was fantastic, really engaging. It had so much to say and such a unique way of saying it. I‘ll definitely be checking out the adult graphic novels section of the library more frequently.

I think this would be a great book club book, there is soo much to talk about. Set in the mid 1980‘s from varying perspectives. I really enjoyed this book.

Smashed this one out in 2 sittings. It‘s sharp and snappy. I loved it. Definitely recommend.

Loved it. I can‘t fault Cunningham he is one of my absolute favourite writers. I think what struck a cord with this particular novel is the everyday honesty and the distance between what we think and what we say. This is popping up a bit in my book choices of late. Writers who write honestly about the beauty of everyday people. The way beauty and art is articulated in this novel is particularly special. I really enjoyed it.

For the life of me I have no idea why it took me so long to get around to reading this book.

Loved it. I really enjoy the way Sally Rooney writes. I appreciated how she articulated the space between the main characters thoughts and what she actually shares with her “friends”. I think I may have enjoyed it even more than Normal people.

I am sceptically aware of my own bias here because I love Nick Cave, but the more I think about it the more intelligent I realise the writing is. I loved it! Listening to the audiobook is definitely the way to go. It was like listening to a performance with the musical arrangements and sound effects. If your a Nick Cave fan and even if your not (and are not adverse to reading darker subject matter) I recommend listening to this book.

I read this in a few short sittings. It had the same evocative writing as Wimerra but I enjoyed this story much more. #ozfiction #therip #markbrandi
