This one was a bit strange at first. It took a little bit to kind of become familiar with this world and know what was going on. I liked that there were different types of characters in the story, witches, goblins, and beasties. It made for an interesting story and I‘m interested to see the direction the second book will take.

I hate to do this, but I‘m halfway through Velvet Was The Night and it‘s been so painful for me just to make it halfway. I‘m going to DNF this one. I‘m just not that into the story, I don‘t care about any of these characters or what happens to them. It‘s just not for me. I was tempted to stick it out and try to push through, but it‘s taking me forever to read and I just have too many other books I want to get to.

I felt such emotion for these characters and their journeys. I loved that when I started reading there was an idea in my mind that was totally transformed at the end. I feel like I went through it with these characters and I‘m just left with a bundle of emotions. Highly recommend this one! It blew me away!

Thank you @blackstonepublishing @netgalley for my review copy!

I thought the most interesting part about this thriller is that it takes place during the beginning of the Corona virus pandemic. It was so surreal reliving that time through this book.

Overall, I just thought it was an ok thriller. It didn‘t really wow me like I was expecting. I liked it, but meh. Middle of the road.

Out 8/17!

Thank you @kensingtonbooks @bookishfirst for my review copy.

Honestly, I almost DNFed it. The last quarter of the book really turned it around for me. And the more I keep thinking about this book, the more I feel like I liked it.

Read this if you‘re looking for something a little different, enjoy espionage novels, or if you like books that discuss current social/political issues.

This was a perfect summer read. I loved all the descriptions of the different islands and of course the food. It was a cute story, with a bit of heavy subject matter, but I loved seeing Anna come into her own.

Perfect if you enjoy books with travel or are looking for a summer type read.

Why did I wait so long to read this trilogy?! I loved it! I couldn‘t put this series down. Not quite sure how I feel about the ending though. I have very mixed emotions. But if you ask me how I wanted it to end, I couldn‘t tell you! 😂 Maybe because the adventure was so epic, the ending just felt a little blah to me.

My favorite in the trilogy. I flew through this one and when it ended my mind was 🤯

I love all the action in these books and the end of this one had me dying to know how the final book was going to play out.

Such a fun and engrossing read!

Why did I wait so long to read this book? I‘m not much of a fantasy reader. I‘d like to read more of the genre, but sometimes I have a hard time with the world building aspects of fantasy. This one was perfect because it wasn‘t too hard to follow what was happening and I felt like once the story started developing, my understanding fell into place. I‘m anxious to see how the Netflix show compares.

An interesting story about the clubmobile women who served doughnuts and coffee to soldiers on the front lines during WW2. A bit slow at times, but an entertaining read.

I really enjoyed the story. The author did a great job in weaving the past and present. If you enjoy family dramas, then I would recommend this book.

4.5⭐️ I loved this one even more than the first! I just love these characters and this little town. This story isn‘t what I would call fast paced, but I thought that it moved along a little more quickly than the first book did. One of the things I love about these books is that I‘m constantly trying to guess what‘s happening and the suspect is always constantly changing in my mind. To me, that‘s what makes a great mystery.

Gave up on this one about halfway through. I thought the story was going to focus on Sadie, but it was all over the place.

I definitely liked the concept of this book. A group of people stuck in an elevator escape room as a team building exercise turned ugly. It had so much great potential. The build up was good and even though it was predictable, I still really enjoyed it. However, I was so disappointed with the end. I really wanted it to end differently. I thought it was so good up until that point.

So good! A bit repetitive at times, but a very moving story. I had very conflicting emotions for these characters. Sometimes loving them, hating them, feeling sympathy for their circumstances. I highly recommend this one!

Such a great mystery. I love that she gives us a cast of suspicious characters who all have motive and opportunity. It kept me guessing until the very end! If you‘re looking for a good old fashioned whodunnit, then look no further!

I was not prepared for how emotional this book turned out to be! The subject matter was pretty heavy and I didn‘t expect that going into a YA. It was everything that I love in good YA. The writing was great, the dialogue was well written and wasn‘t too cheesy. It‘s the kind of book that can resonate with all age groups and it has a great message of being kind and not judging others because we don‘t know what others are going through.

It really bothered me that the author didn‘t use quotation marks. I know that doesn‘t bother some readers, but I felt like it disturbed the flow for me. It was an interesting story, but it never really wowed me.

This one was middle of the road for me. I didn‘t care for their “hate” relationship at all. Once things started heating up it got better, but I never fell in love with it.

One of my favorite books of the year! I love books that make me cry and this one definitely had me crying more than once. A powerful story about addiction, love, and family.
