⭐️⭐️⭐️
An interesting story about the clubmobile women who served doughnuts and coffee to soldiers on the front lines during WW2. A bit slow at times, but an entertaining read.

2020 has sucked in so many ways, BUT being able to attend Jane Healey‘s Zoom and hear about her ‘Beantown Girls‘ book and her upcoming book is AWESOME!! I hope this is the only thing that continues in 2021 🥳
2920 #81 Many reviews called it fluff. And it is. But sometimes, especially these days, you just need some fluff!

You will definitely need tissues, and we all should be THANKFUL for the men and women who suffered and died so we could have our freedom.

I loved this book so much! I couldn‘t put it down 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I put a request for her other book at my library, I can‘t wait to read it ☺️
A beautiful Labor Day morning to sit and read outside with my coffee 😎☕️
Starting a new book on #readabookday - what‘s better than that?! 😍🍷📚
I love this book. I had never heard of the Red Cross Clubmobile girls before and what they did for soldiers during WWII. This book focuses on 3 friends from Boston who decide to join the Red Cross after Fiona's fiance goes missing in the war. The experiences these 3 ladies have is heartwarming and heartbreaking. The author does a great job of explaining what these women and some of the soldiers went thru during the war.

This is an easy read (or listen) and was a good choice when I had other things on my mind. I wouldn‘t have been able to follow a complicated plot or more than a handful of characters. Overall so-so, but not in a bad way. There was one scene that could‘ve carried the story if the author had developed it more, dramatic and suspenseful. 2/5🍩s
I absolutely loved this book. Learned a ton about The Red Cross Girls—more historical insight into what WWII soldiers at the front faced...plus a great fictional plot.
As Donut Dollies best friends Fiona, Viv and Dottie are doing their part for the war effort by raising the spirits of soldiers with a taste of home. But Fiona has a much more important reason for joining up - to try and find out what happened to her fiancé Danny, who is MIA.
I loved this book so much! I have been fascinated by the Dollies since I first learned of them so I was SO excited to read this one and I was not disappointed!!
Really enjoyed listening to this as an audiobook! This book is filled with warmth and strength. I‘d never heard of the Red Cross Clubmobile program during WWII.. these women‘s inspiration to the men at the front lines was brought to life! I felt like I was right there with Fiona, Viv, and Dottie and I would have wanted to be a Red Cross Clubmobile girl. If you love historical fiction about World War II era don‘t miss this book!
5 stars!
Fantastic and easily read story bringing heart and soul to Red Cross volunteers in Europe during WWII.
Interesting historical fiction bringing to light a group of women volunteers during WWII. These women volunteered with he Red Cross to go anywhere, even the front, to help boost morale among the weary soldiers. A little slow & repetitive to start, I became deeply invested in each woman‘s story.
It‘s always nice to have a book or two downloaded to my phone for those times when I‘m on the run, or, you know, just too lazy to go downstairs and get my book.
Such an interesting part of WWII, and an aspect I‘d never read about before. Entertaining and factual story. 4🌟
A MUST READ!!
Have you read it yet?

FULL REVIEW WILL BE ON MY BLOG ON FEBRUARY 14 OR ON GOODREADS AND AMAZON TODAY, 2/5.
I enjoyed learning about these women and this program and how these women helped during the war.
Despite the main story line about war, THE BEANTOWN GIRLS was an enjoyable read filled with friendship, caring, love, and of course tears and sadness.
Historical fiction fans and women's fiction fans will love this book.
I read Jane Healey‘s first book THE SATURDAY EVENING GIRLS CLUB and really enjoyed it – gave it a 4-star rating. But THE BEANTOWN GIRLS I absolutely LOVED – 5-star review (and more if I could). I was torn between wanting to know how things turned out for each of the girls and not wanting to leave their world. These girls were my friends for a few days – and today had to let them go.
I just finished this GEM.
BEAUTIFUL book with marvelous research.
Historical fiction fans and women‘s fiction fans will LOVE it.
Thank you, Ms. Healey.
REVIEW WILL BE IN FEBRUARY.
TGIF! Looking forward to starting this book!
