Excellent plotting, edge-of-my-seat suspense, and a fair bit of heartbreak; a satisfying ending to the trilogy.

Finished Ruin and Rising today under the supervision of my best noodle, Linguini. #leighbardugo #shadowandbone #paperback #orangecat #cat #readingbuddy
Finished off this trilogy, and while I can't say I predicted all the outcomes, I wasn't surprised at each character's fate, either. Not sure whether I'll continue reading the rest of the series.

Beautiful trilogy. I was slightly disappointed at the ending at first, but the more I think about it, the more poetic it feels and the more appreciative I am for how it‘s ended. I love the world that was created, the growth all characters showed, and everything in between. This trilogy made me feel so much and I‘m so excited to dive more into the Grishaverse and explore different parts of the world with the remaining books. It‘s a pick from me.
My favourite of the trilogy. The different locations were interesting, but I did struggle to picture where some places were on the map (the Spinning Wheel & the firebird lair), even from checking the map several times. A shame Alina loses her powers, but I get why she does. Nikolai's volcra story was exciting. Looking forward to reading his duology & seeing how he fares as king. Hopefully he stays as a good king, I find tyrant kings a bit cliché.
Still underwhelmed but I‘m giving this a pick.
I thought it was rushed especially that ending, with the fewer but longer chapters. It was still OK, though.
I‘m glad I read this series.
“I know metal."
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"I ... I don't understand half of what goes on around me. I don't get jokes or sunsets or poetry, but I know metal. Beauty was your armor. Fragile stuff, all show. But what's inside you? That's steel. It's brave and unbreakable. And it doesn't need fixing."
The final book in Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone series, and I must say it is just the perfect ending for Alina.
However, the final few chapters did feel a little rushed. One minute, they're looking for the firebird. The next they have a revelation and are in the final faceoff. I think the reader would happily have had a few more chapters to flesh the sequence of events out a little. Definitely worth the read but my favourites are still The Crows
Bardugo sure knows how to end a trilogy beautifully. Enough new content to keep the reading fresh, terrifying battles, the loss of some long standing characters, justice prevailing and a new life beginning for the principal characters. Brava!
“They had an ordinary life, full of ordinary things — if love can ever be called that.” (p. 417)
Ooooh I liked this third and last book of the Sun Summoner trilogy. I‘m actually a bit sad now that it‘s over. I‘m thinking of maybe getting the other Grishaverse books as well, but for now I have to make do with the memories of these books living rent free in my mind. And maybe I will try and give the Netflix serie a go as well!
“Hope was tricky like water. Somehow it always found a way in.” A beautiful ending to the trilogy, it‘s worth it to read it this far to see how Alina, Mal, the darkling, Nikolai and the other grisha fare during the turbulent times. Love, loss, hope, and new beginnings make this a poignant story about love, power and warfare. Great series overall!
Really loved the trilogy and there's quite a bit different from the TV series, so it still had some surprises to enjoy. There's not enough Nikolai in the final book though!
A good ending of the trilogy. At times a little drawn out and plot wrap ups a little too neatly, but overall good storytelling. I am not big on YA fiction so this is a refreshing reminder that there are great stories in the fantasy YA genre.
I listened to the audiobook via BorrowBox,
I enjoyed it and I was glad to complete the series.
Read for reading challenges.
4/5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very satisfying ending to this trilogy! Lots of action and small character moments throughout. Nikolai was still my favorite and I will be starting King of Scars next. I‘m very curious about the direction of the show with the inclusion of the Crows but I‘m excited for the second season of Shadow and Bone 🙂
Good series finish. Alina (MC) was too unsure of herself and her purpose in the 2nd and 3rd books - in the end though she did what needed to be done to save the world from the Darkling - and I enjoyed all three books enough to keep reading to how it see how it all turned out and what happened to everyone. And I have enjoyed it enough to continue with the Grishaverse (reading Six of Crows now).

Not sure what took me so long to finish this trilogy, but I did it finally. I really just want her new book to come out.

All the ⭐️‘s and then some! It took me a long time to recover from the absolute trauma-fest of “Siege and Storm,” but I‘m so glad I decided to return to the final outing of this trilogy! The whole thing is beautiful in its inherent bitterness and the ending line is simply perfection. Now…will it take me another year to begin “Six of Crows?!” Saints only know 😉
I have politely warned my esteemed, exceedingly tolerant, spouse that I am embarking on the follow-up to the book that made me cry so hard it woke them up from 3 rooms away.
I was starting to think Bardugo was going to employ every single YA trope before we were done, but I think she left a couple out. 😂
A satisfying, if abrupt, ending to this series. Love the Grishaverse, so many of these characters, and the writing. I definitely loved the Six of Crows series more, but I‘m going to read King of Scars next.
And now I can watch the Netflix show! 🎉

Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo I sure did love the shadow and bone trilogy.
Probably the most perfect ending to a series ever. Like it was sad, but it was right. It was perfect. 5/5 🥹
“Saints, Alina. I hope you weren‘t looking to me to be the voice of reason. I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret.” -Nik
Alina really has her work cut out for her with Mal, Nikolai, and the Darkling! It‘s her heart vs her mind vs her body. I‘m still #TeamMal cuz duh. 🥺❤️
“You were meant for more than me, and I‘ll die fighting to give it to you. But please don‘t ask me to pretend it‘s easy.” Oh, Mal! 💔😭
Oh, how I loved this trilogy! I loved the characters, the world building, the twists and turns, the love story… everything about it. This part of the story was heart wrenching at times, but the solution is fitting (and yet unexpected). I really love the ending. It was bittersweet and really lends to the humanity of the characters and the beauty of this world that Leigh Bardugo created. I definitely want to get more of her books.
“The past was full of horrors, and the future left me with that breathless, rising panic.”
“We didn‘t quite fit together. We had edges so jagged we cut each other sometimes, but… I felt a rush of gratitude so sweet it made my throat ache. Fear came with it. Keeping them close was a luxury I would pay for. Now I had more to lose.”
“People fell in love every day… But were they happy? Would they stay that way? Maybe love was superstition, a prayer we said to keep the truth of loneliness at bay… The stars looked like they were close together, when really they were millions of miles apart. In the end, maybe love just meant longing for something impossibly bright and forever out of reach.”
I was a little disappointed in the final showdown but overall I loved this series. Ready to read six of crows to continue the GrishaVerse
Couldn‘t wait for April #BookSpin #BookBingo after finishing siege & storm last night , & it‘s snowing this morning so mollies happy to stay in bed 🛌 & read #GrishaVerse #RuinAndRising #Shadow&Bone #BookNo3 #BookSeries #GetLostinAnotherWorld
This is the 3rd book in the series and as full of adventure and imagination as the first two. This one however, is poignant and bittersweet. The twists Bardugo takes near the end will leave your head spinning. It's up to you if you enjoy the ride.
On a roll today! I finally finished the Shadow and Bone trilogy, 3 years after completing book 2 (which was so-so). It was a good finale. It‘s brutal and violent (which I forgot about) but also definitely lives in the YA space. The ending was a little abrupt but still satisfying overall. 3.5⭐️
