Hubs: what‘s that?
Me: a book.
Hubs: what‘s a book?
Hubs: ha. The ebook I was reading expired and it was going to take like 3 weeks to get it back so I got a physical copy because it was in.
Hubs: did they teach you how to use it?? How do you turn it on?
😂

I haven‘t posted for a while, but this book shook me. I can‘t find the words to talk about it and am finding myself still processing it. But this line was so eye opening.
I need a “still processing how I feel about this book rating”. I‘m honestly not sure if I liked it. It started out promising but then maybe got a tad to science fiction-y for me. And then some things felt like they moved to quickly and some things felt like they dragged on. And now I‘m contemplating whether or not to read the rest of the quintet. Do they get better?
I liked this one but at the same time found it so predictable. I had heard people preferred it to Big Little Lies, but I think I like Big Little Lies vetter
Somehow I‘ve never read this. I‘m almost 75% done and this is definitely not how my brain is picturing the Mrs Ws. I picture them as eccentric little old women. Not beautiful exotic women. Am I alone here?
After putting off reading this for years I had to bail. It was so slow moving and waaaay too many characters for a book that was struggling to hold my interest.
Why does my 4 year old love this so much? “Mommy, who is MAN? why is MAN bad?”
I honestly have no idea how I feel about this book. I was quite enjoying it after finally getting a handle on who everyone was but the plot twist just kind of left me at ???.
So glad I‘m reading this on kindle. Because I‘d be LOST without having X-ray to go back and figure out who all these people are.
Surprisingly good for a #kindlefirst pick (although I have no idea which month). Not sure if a sequel is planned but i definitely found myself wanting more after the ending.
Ahhh! I hate it when all my library holds come in when I‘m in the middle of a book I‘m enjoying. Here‘s the push to finish in the next couple days so I can dig in to the next two.
The problem with reading almost exclusively on my kindle is that I have zero perception of how long a book actually is since I can‘t see its thickness. I likely wouldn‘t have selected this book had I “seen” it‘s size as it‘s hard enough to find time to finish even short novels. But by the time I realize how long this would actually take to finish I was committed. Pleasantly surprised with this #kindlefirst selection for October!
Does anyone else struggle with starting a new book after finishing one? I find that I usually have to restart it at least once if I didn‘t get far in enough in because I forget that I‘m reading about new characters, settings, and plots. It doesn‘t help that the last book I read was long and took me a couple weeks to finally get through 😕. (Preschooler has FINALLY discovered legos in the background)
The 4 year old has been digging her heels in with bedtime lately and not wanting me to leave her room. My negotiation with her is that I will snuggle with her for 10 minutes but I will also be reading during that time. 10 minutes usually turns into much longer which means we both win. I get quality reading time in and she falls asleep before I leave 😆
I‘ve been on a massive declutter/organize kick and today my tv console found itself victim. I gifted The Red Book to my Jung obsessed husband for our first anniversary (paper). Although I admit Jung‘s writing is a bit heavy even for my clinician self to digest, this book is absolutely beautiful, truly a work of art. It certainly doesn‘t get enough viewing love in this house :(
I‘ve struggled a lot with finishing books since becoming a parent. It seems like it often takes a good bit of time for me to become invested in them and I just don‘t have the patience for it. But this one grabbed me from the start. I got so invested in it that I chose to read over watching This Is Us 😲. I was so sad to be finished reading it during an early morning bout of insomnia. And I still have questions!
I just taped this book up after my 4.5 year old ripped the cover off because it was so worn. I wish I could say it is so worn because it‘s been sincerely loved. Nope. It‘s worn because I‘ve restarted it approximately 10 times and for some reason cannot seem to finish it. Someone motivate me! Please :)
Kid watches my little pony. I read. Parent of the year here.
I feel like I‘m late to the party on this one but if theres one thing I dislike, it‘s watching movies/shows before I‘ve read the book they are based off of. For some reason I‘d rather have the ending of a movie spoiled over knowing how a book will end.
I read almost exclusively on my kindle. It's truly changed my reading habits, likely because all my books are on it and it has a light. But I'm curious to all you avid readers...how do you decide when to read a printed copy and when to read an electronic copy? Sometimes I feel like I'm "cheating" because I'm not turning actual pages.
It's been a while since I've had time to enjoy a beer and read. This one (beer AND book) are not disappointing. Although I do admit it was a bit slow getting into it.
I got sucked into this book by the numerous comparisons to Erin Morgenstern The Night Circus. I haven't found a book to fill the void I had after finishing it and have been desperately hoping and Morgenstern would publish a second novel. This book was no Night Circus but it also didn't disappoint. I haven't finished a book this fast in a long time.
