I think this one little section out of the entire book is what made me appreciate the fact that I finished it. It was well worth the read to get to this part. Why it reached a certain internal part of me I cannot say just that I'm left with a feeling of smallness in a vast universe. And that's scary and comforting at the same time.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Great passage! And so very true 8y

In celebration of Banned Books Week (9/25/16-10/1/16), I've started off with this gem.

The Storyteller | Jodi Picoult

There are all sorts of losses people suffer...you can lose your keys, your glasses, your virginity. You can lose your head, you can lose your heart, you can lose your mind. You can relinquish your home to move into assisted living, or have a child move overseas, or see a spouse vanish into dementia. Loss is more than just death, and grief is the gray shape-shifter of emotion.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I've been meaning to read this one every since I saw the movie. 8y
XxCaptainLoreleixX Such a good movie! I'm still in the beginning and it's a bit slow but I'm gonna keep on going :) 8y

This book is filled with surreal and abstract worlds and characters that it really is a nice break from reality.

Jenbug68 I love pretty much everything Neil has ever written , but on the whole this collection really didn't do anything for me . 8y
XxCaptainLoreleixX I just think they're so weird I find them funny. But this is the first collection of short stories of his I'm reading. I really wanna read his other collections. 8y

Credit also to Thomas Olde Heuvelt. Met these two at the Miami #supercon yesterday. They were very cool and can't wait to start reading. And if I can work up the nerve I'll pick up Hex afterwards :)

After finishing the book, my cousin asks me, "Do you feel inspired now to go fishing?" I responded, "Fishing? No." He laughs and says, "Then you missed the whole point of the book!" "I think the point of the book was keep fighting in the face of defeat." "True that," he said.

Beautifully written, deep characters, plots, schemes, beautiful lies and ugly truths and revolutions. Though the characters are young this is so much more than a YA book, in fact I don't consider it YA at all. "They're so mature for their age" never rang truer

Looking forward to reading this. After "When Rabbit Howls" I feel the need to read something much lighter.

When Rabbit Howls | Truddi Chase, Robert A. Phillips

Pickpick

A horrific childhood brings about the birth of 92 people all within the mind of Truddi Chase. I normally don't read non-fiction but this has been one of the best books I've ever read. It has left me feeling emotions I never thought I'd feel reading. It is not for the faint of heart. Read it anyway.

Maybe I had high expectations for it, maybe I was led by the title but overall it just wasn't for me. I was actually happy to finish it so I wouldn't have to read it anymore 😕

Wow what a book. I think the thing about this book that stood out the most in my mind were the characters. Very well written. Loved some, hated others, loved to hate some too. I found my heart racing in many parts throughout, laughing, and just sad. Overall, a great book
