Not for me. Beautiful language but a chore to finish. #TournamentOfBooks

Packed with interesting content. If you are interested in science behind ancestry, this is your read. There is a ton of good stuff here.

MelissaSue81 I have been on the waitlist for the audiobook for this for.ev.er. I could get it in print easily enough, but it scares men 11mo

One of the better science books I‘ve read in a while. Fascinating stuff. https://carlzimmer.com/books/she-has-her-mothers-laugh/

Finished Census in my 2019 challenge to have my own little #TournamentOfBooks .
Decent writing. There were several passages that made me stop and chew for a bit, which is awesome and appreciated. And there‘s some depth here that may take a little more post read contemplation time before it really comes alive. However, this one wasn‘t my cup of tea.

Scythe | Neal Shusterman

Mighty fine little read. Took a great deal of skill for Shusterman to keep the premise from devolving into morbidity. Very interesting story. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Listening to this one on the road back from sunny Orlando, Florida. I‘ve seen this one recommended about a dozen times on here so that many of you can‘t be wrong.

My oldest has some special needs. This book has had its share of truth daggers of understanding to my fatherly heart.

Starting the 2nd of 18 in the #TournamentOfBooks. This one seems like it will be good.
Unrelated question: Do you listen to music while reading? If so, what are your tunes of choice?

gradcat Sometimes, but it almost always has to be jazz instrumentals...vocals screw me up! 🎶😍👍 13mo

Finished. Ellis uncharacteristically made the leap from historian to revisionist here. The joy of reading history turns a little bitter when the historian chooses to put his or her particular political lean on things. Not my favorite.

RamsFan1963 I was thinking about reading this. Thanks for the heads up, I won't waste my time. 13mo

Call Me Zebra | Azareen Van der Vliet Oloomi

She is an unquestionably talented writer with a far better grasp of literature than I will ever have. However, to me, reading this book felt like listening to the punchline of an inside joke, the context to which I was not invited.

Interesting look at how specific founders addressed some of the issues our Republic is currently still facing
