What I can say is, the way that the author described the setting, the places in Japan was spot-on. I can definitely imagine them vividly. What I didn‘t like was the slow pacing. Ultimately, it was a good read. During a time when the Japanese women were conservative and predictable, this book challenged societal norms.

This book was fantastic! Incredible story-telling to the point that I got really sad while reading it, especially now that I‘m going through something. You will really feel for the boy. You will feel all the emotions the author is trying to send out while reading this book.

I hope and pray that what happened in the book will never happen to my family. 🙏😭 Thanks bf for this 😭

Funny how a lot has happened while reading, but I found the book lacking. It was well-written but the story seemed a little shallow. Loved it still because of its historical references. Finished it fast enough also.

This book was well-thought out! The twists and turns will keep you guessing up until the last chapter. Can‘t wait to read the next books in the series.

Is it just me or this book is really hard to read??? I‘m usually into fiction so I don‘t know if I‘m just biased. I tried reading this for 4 times already. I cannot seem to push myself into reading non-fiction (except finance books, I like those) 😭😭

What a whirlwind of a book! Personally, I love historical romances so this is a book that piqued my interest. The way that it was written, the flashbacks, the descriptions is very rich and full to the brim. Oh how I loved it! It‘s 542 pages but you‘d be able to finish fast because of the story. I know that when it becomes a movie, it‘ll be fantastic!!!

1/12. Amazing how it shows us that no matter how monotonous one‘s life is, it‘s important because it gives your days structure. I really enjoyed this book! Such an easy read. Also, it‘s a bonus that I love Japan and been there twice already, so the convenience store life there is something that I have experienced. It also spoke to me that it‘s ok to not follow societal norms. Bought at 1/6/24 ❤️

Last 2023, I‘ve challenged myself to read 1 book per month for 12 months. So proud of myself for being able to accomplish this despite my busy-ness these days. When I was younger, I was a voracious reader. Now, I need to schedule my reading time so this was quite a feat for me.

The book is about Communism. You thought it‘s not gonna be an adult read because they have animals for their characters, but dang! This is such a wonderful book, everyone can read it, young or old. Can‘t help but feel for the animals as I was reading this. :( Finished in 2 days. Dec 24-25 lol 🎄

This book kept me guessing of who the suspect is from start to finish! Easy read and un-put-down-able. Lol

The story has so many twists and turns, there are parts when my heart races as I read. But then there are also parts where the author over-describes or over-explains situations so that I forget the main scene. Overall, maybe a 6.5/10. All in all a nice read.

This was a hard read. It‘s ok, the plot is nice. But the wording of it is not for all people. It‘s high-fallutin sometimes, maybe pretentious. But the story is good. Struggled to finish.

This book has summoned me while it was on the shelves. Got this for less than a dollar and the stories were so amazing, especially the GRRM one. You can never go wrong with a George RR Martin story. This is actually, I presume, will be the Season 2 of House of the Dragon. So glad I found this gem!

Phenomenal! Amazing how Margaret Atwood created a dystopian novel like this. Such a creative mind! And to think the book was published in the 80s. Her views of the future is still appropriate even today.

Essentially, we become more selective about the fucks we‘re willing to give. This is something called maturity. It‘s nice; you should try it sometime. Maturity is what happens when one learns to only give a fuck about what‘s truly fuckworthy.

I came across this as I was browsing Blackwell's books online. I saw that it was a bestseller, and got it. The book delivered. 👏🏼 The last parts were the best.

I thought it was gonna be another cheeky historical novel, but it kind of tugged in my heart towards the end. It got a little heavy and I loved it!

Historical romance is really my genre of choice. ❤️

It's been proven that negative memories fade with time, whereas positive memories endure. This is why the older a person gets, the greater his tendency to regard the past in a positive light, which is why old fools like to complain wistfully, "Everything was better in the good old days."

It's actually an easy read. Un-put-downable. For 300+ a lot has happened with Annabelle's life and if you think about it, she has weathered blow upon blow of bad things happening to her and came out victorious.

1,045 pages! One of the longest books I've ever read. A lot has happened in this book including Joffrey's death, the Red Wedding and so much battles. Looking forward to read the next one!
