A great way to (kind of?) end the "trilogy" but still leave room for other novels if need be. A great way to kind of trick people into seeing some good points of social justice issues all while having a great laugh. This book was fun and pokes fun at Harry Potter and priates. It is great.

No Country for Old Gnomes: The Tales of Pell | Kevin Hearne, Delilah S. Dawson

I liked this book much more than I did the first book and even my six-year-old son enjoyed it. He sat through the whole novel. A metal gnome, a paranoid half-sheep half-human girl, a halfing, a dwarf, and a noble gryphon. The book is hilarious. Most of these classic fantasy characters are POC, as well.

The second novella in a series, this story takes our beloved Sec Unit in a search for information during an incident that made it dub itself "Murderbot."

Taking on another batch of humans for a "suicidial" mission to obtain research information back that was stolen by a former employer. Murderbot shows humanity and comes in for the rescue.

I can't say enough about this book and how relatable it is to me as a veteran. It isn't even a book about a solider, it is about a rogue security unit robot (android really) that navigates life until his most recent security contract.

No one knows he is rogue, either. There are several other books in the series. A short read each of sbout 100 pages. Too wonderful!!

I was thoroughly impressed with this book. It took me only two days to read and I was engrossed with the short story "chapters" that fueled the story's progression.

Two siblings survive off the souls of lured victims every nine years, and opens a great realm of an occult/fantasy theme. It is part horror, part suspense, part detective. I really enjoyes this book.

Kind of in between reading books. Haven't found a book that has fit in to my mood as of yet. Tried reading books from some of my favorite authors, but they fall a bit flat.

Dislike this period of time from one book to the next.

So... after I finish a book and go to find another to read, it ends up being a real chore. I can't just go pick up a novel of the same genre or is similar because it doesn't always feel right. Almost like having to do the waiting period after ending a relationship.

Sometimes I will read a few pages of numerous books before I settle into the -right- read. Is it just me?

Ending a long time relationship is always a terrible feat to endure, and I just finished the latest book in the Tower of Babel series so my heart is doubly broken. I started reading "The Wolf in the Whale" but today's events required me to start something more lighthearted than serious.

So, it is a pick of one of these two....

megnews How to Be Black was so funny. 5y
gallowbraids I went with that book and am enjoying it so far. I love reading books written by comedians. 5y

"Memory is not like a box of stationery--easy to browse, reorder, and read. No, memories accumulate like leaves upon the forest floor. They are irregular and fragile. They crumble and break upon inspection. They turn to soul the deeper you go."

How do authors come up with such heavy sentiments?

I love this book series more than any before it. Harry Potter wasn't even this good.

When you stay up past 1 AM to read and your body wakes up at 5:30 because it thinks it is done sleeping. LOL

I read 119 pages though. Would have read more if I knew this precise thing wouldn't happen!

Been wanting this book for the last few years, but the price for a copy was always a bit much. Couldn't find it on Book Outlet but I did on Thriftbooks via the app.

Great discounted books from Book Outlet, brand new books that mainky have faint blemishes or dents. Thriftbooks seems to be books from thrift stores as the copies all seem to be a bit old if not marked as "like new."

Super excited to read this finally!

I heard on the radio this afternoon that a recent survey found that 1 in 5 people are not able to recall a single author of any kind. They found that these people do not like reading because they find books difficult to understand.

Interesting.

A comprehensive cookbook to some of the popular dishes in the world of The Elder Scrolls. It features seasoning blends, alcoholic recipes, desserts, main courses, breads, and so much more. I have made the famous Sweetrolls and a Snowberry rustic pie as well as several other dishes. It is a great cookbook, very fun to read through.

Thinking back on previous books. I enjoy how the rating scheme for them on here includes metal horns. 😭 This is especially wonderful because I am an avid listener of underground metal.

Words to live by. Books render such insight and it is incredible how wonderful authors are able to bring out such insightfulness. Suppose these are things we all know very well, but sometimes are in need of reminding.

Thanks to summer break, it has taken more than a week or two to continue reading this book. I managed to read over six books in four months and then end of the school year hit. Lucky to get a few pages in, and I don't even have any social media.

I rather adored the book. It managed to cover a lot of ground without feeling rushed, and it really flowed into the next novel nicely. The characters seemed realistic as well as relatable, and I enjoy the descriptions in the book because the use of adjectives and similes were not abused. They were to the point and simple so as not to interfer with the story. Fantastic read, truly. Recommend for fans of Yahtzee Croshaw.
