The follow-up to the hugely popular All Systems RedIt has a dark past - one in which a number of humans were killed. A past that caused it to christen itself "Murderbot."But it has only vague memories of the massacre that spawned that title, and it wants to know more.Teaming up with a Research Transport vessel named ART (you don't want to know what the "A" stands for), Murderbot heads to the mining facility where it went rogue. What it discovers will forever change the way it thinks...

Loved this second installment of the Murderbot diaries, about a sarcastic AI security unit with severe social anxiety. The arguments with ART (for asshole research transport) were hysterical. Hope we‘ll see more of ART in coming books.

My month of October reading, not what I‘d hoped for but I got reading done. I picked up a lot of stuff and ended up putting it back down without being able to get into it. I‘ll just have to try again later ☺️.
Murderbot Diaries, Artificial Condition, was by far my favorite read, I‘m waiting on book 3 to arrive right now so I can keep going.

Library stickers, sheesh.

Fortunately Murderbot don't need no stinkin' cover. 'Cause what's inside is plenty good enough.

... you can‘t put something as dumb as a hauler bot in charge of security for anything without spending even more money for expensive company-employed human supervisors. So they made us smarter. The anxiety and depression were side effects.

These novellas are such a freaking pleasure to read. I enjoyed this one as much as the first - there are no sudden transformations- Murderbot is still as antisocial as ever but slowly getting a grip on its own nature and exploring its relationship to humans and to other constructs.

Jeannie I love these so much! 1mo

I‘m just starting this, and realized it‘s a signed copy! I had no idea when I bought it. Pretty cool. Now does that say Martha Wells or does it say Murderbot? 🖤

InBooksILive I just realized my copy of Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder was signed too! I bought it from thriftbooks.com a couple months ago and just now seen the signature when I went to read it. It's always an awesome surprise to see a book ya bought is signed! Lol 1mo

Book 2 in the Murderbot series, this follows our MC as they attempt to find out more about the incident that led them to break free of the governor's control. Set free by their "owner", Murderbot heads out to discover the truth of what happened to them during the massacre that gave rise to their name. This does bring us closer to a kind of origin story for our MC and I'll be interested to see what happens next.

In this adventure, Murderbot gains an extremely helpful if obnoxious sidekick in the form of a starship‘s AI that Murderbot dubs Asshole Research Transport or ART for short (obnoxious to Murderbot anyway, I loved ART).

The plot was even more paper-thin than in book 1, and full of coincidence, but our main character rules and it looks like Murderbot‘s origin mystery is spread out over the 4 novellas so I‘m ready for more.

A great continuation of the story. Murderbot is very relateable. Don't we all rather watch shows (read books) than deal with humans or work?

I LOVE MURDERBOT
Book two of the Murderbot Diaries has us following Murderbot into new places and meeting new artificial beings. This time it meets A.R.T (whom Murderbot gives it this name by the way. And I adore their interactions together. Murderbot still wants to just watch its shows but those pesky humans get in the way again. Bk2 is my favorite of the set.
(I‘m getting caught up on my reviews from last month please enjoy haha)

What I really wanted at the end of All Systems Red was a heart-warming episodic serial with a little overarching metaplot and a focus on what ridiculous humans Murderbot was getting unreasonably attached to in spite of itself this week as it helped keep them safe. HEY GUESS WHAT? Artificial Condition was all this with a side serve of construct vs bot snark and a bored research AI being unexpectedly good at crime. Brilliant.

Quippe I really need to pick up the rest of this series. It‘s so good. 5mo

More Murderbot! While the first book felt like it could cryptically stand alone, this second story seems like a short episode on the way to something bigger. The new characters give brief glimpses into a larger, diverse world of bot and human relationship. And the locations and transport described seem like parts of video games I'd enjoy playing. A fun one-sitting read! #mommyreads #scifi #robots #novella #babyreads #tractors

“There are no Sec units in this story?” It must‘ve thought that “Sanctuary Moon” was my favorite for the same reason that it liked “World Hoppers.” I said, “No, there aren‘t that many shows with Sec units, and they‘re either villains, or the villains‘ minions.”

I love Murderbot! They‘re so snarky, sarcastic & adorable. I‘m 50/50 with the size of the books, on one hand the novella size makes them a great quick read between chunksters or heavy novels, on the other you‘re left wanting more. And there‘s only 4 of them😢 Highly recommended 5⭐️ My #Pop19 #BookWithATwoWordTitle #ReadingWomenChallenge #ANovella

Murderbot is fun. Each is like a TV show episode: lots of action, rather thin plot, some character development. In this one, Murderbot meets ART, and we witness some snarky AI bonding over space soap operas. There is a lot of feed and security altering, hacking, wiping, medical altering, and of course, fighting, double-crossing and outsmarting. Lots of fun, but too short to have a meaty story behind. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I 🖤Murderbot. I enjoyed this second novella in the series. Murderbot is on its own trying to understand the tragedy that occurred before its memory wipe. Along the way Murderbot makes a new friend, ART , and tries a new job. Illuminae put me back into Sci-fi mode. I hope CloudLibrary has the third one. 👍👍
