There's so much to say about the power of this book and the ingenuity of its construction and metaphor...but suffice it to say that it's one I won't soon stop thinking about.
I was just gifted this as a Christmas present and I CANNOT wait to relive my childhood over the next few days!
What a quality fantasy story! The fantastical elements were entertaining, but the characters were the real focal point. The characters were appropriately archetypal without coming off stale--I love each Gansey, Blue, Ronan, and Adam 💜 I'll miss reading about them
I read this whole book just today, and I think I'll probably have a lot of thoughts and feelings once I've properly processed it, but right now I'm just in awe of Molly's voice; her vitality, her tenacity, and her strength.
I'm just fresh from this book, having just closed it about 3 minutes ago, but what a ride...a story with incredible depth of character and with such an immersive world... I was surprised at the dexterity of the shifting perspective, among scores of other things. Would recommend 👍🏼
I found it hard to appreciate Kody's existence on the fringes of his world; it was difficult to sympathize with or understand him, and I found myself wondering why I should even care. In fact, the only thing keeping me reading was a desire to get the story over with.
I have high expectations for a biography on Plath. Unfortunately for this one, a lot of the detail provided forms less of a narrative and more of a monotonous listing of inane details which puts the reader in a kind of hazy stupor...overall not my fave.
This book feels like a miracle of exquisite craft; a journey of self-discovery and acceptance is messy and painful by definition, and Saenz manages to maintain a delicate balance of truth and beauty that is truly breathtaking and uplifting. I felt as though, by reading this book, my soul was healed.
