Green: A Novel | Sam Graham-Felsen
post image
Mehso-so

I took to the unique voice Graham-Felsen created in Dave and, while there is some truly heavy stuff happening, it mostly occurs off-stage. What we are left with is a white adolescent boy in Boston and his exposure to prejudice, both experiential and tangential. Green is an unusual perspective on race which focuses on the particular way young adults come into the understanding of difference—behind a fogged glass, not yet clarified by experience.

How to Stop Time | Matt Haig
post image

I've been unable to put this book down since I first picked it up yesterday. The unique concept of Tom's aging process, known as anageria, along with the historical figures and scenarios weaved throughout the plot make this a compelling story. And, of course, let's not forget the potential romantic plotlines, both past and present, that have piqued my interest. For anyone contemplating picking this up I can confidently recommend it!

We Were the Lucky Ones | Georgia Hunter

We Were The Lucky Ones: that book...my heart...! I am in awe of authors who devote so much time to the meticulous research it takes to craft such a detailed and accurate story. This is the perfect blend of WWII despair and hope and I would highly recommend it to historical fiction lovers!

New People | Danzy Senna

Here's a quick snap of my current situation: my scrumptious breakfast and my current read New People by Danzy Senna. This book has absorbed me to the point that I'm thinking about it even when I'm not reading it. I'm so curious to find out where it all leads. Have you read it?

Did you all know The Immortalists by @chloekbenjamin is set to debut at #7 on the NYT bestsellers list? And did you know she previously published another book? I picked up my copy of The Anatomy of Dreams at her reading at @powellsbooks last week and I can't wait to dive in! As a scientist, the premise intrigues me.

The Wonder | Emma Donoghue
post image

I finished this today and I'm still so absorbed in the story. The plot is so well paced and full of just the right amount of suspense. It reminds me subtly of The Good People by Hannah Kent but with less Irish folklore and more Roman Catholicism.

When you've recently read a book about an internet famous chef and the drama that surrounds her life following a social media hack, you bring it to brunch and post a photo.
