While it started off a little confusing, it‘s all revealed with the raw intensity that TJ Kline masters in this series. I gasped, I laughed, & got upset for a hot minute. Each book is so fun to see the Greek Creek gang from another perspective, and Robbie was beautifully written. Kelly was also refreshing asexual representation! This book took me straight back to being a nervous 17 year old sitting in my Louisiana Hall dorm room and not knowing how to even start understanding college & the whole summer of 2008. Don‘t let her celebrity status keep you from this book. Her words are raw and ring true for all of us who have lost that person that contained your world and then had to watch them move on without you.

This book is a mess, tediously pointless, and misses the mark completely. Less is told about Frances Glessner Lee and more about everything around her. I stopped at the 2 hour mark in the audiobook because I‘m literally hearing a huge chunk of text that was already mentioned before, word for word, and I know I‘m not crazy. It‘s unfortunate because the Nutshell Dioramas are so fascinating!!! I just wish it was organized better.

I keep trying to enjoy books by Melissa Broder, but the raw intensity that draws people inevitably pushes me away. The sexual situations grate on me after a while, and there‘s only so many times a beautifully written passage is thrown sideways with the inclusion of p**** or c***. I don‘t know, I‘ve read this and The Pieces, and I think she‘s just not for me. I‘m not for her shock value style of writing.

I cannot get over how sweet, but wholesome this book is. I already can‘t wait to read it again. To be able to tackle hard topics like prejudice while being yourself in the face of adversity and do it well and comforting, was such a nice change. Also nice was the ages of the MCs; Linus & Arthur were breaths of fresh air.

While better than the first, I still felt like the plot was so forced. I wasn‘t able to process a scene that happened before another “bad thing” was shoved into the narrative. At this point the found pictures are just being shoehorned into the books. As something off key to the plot is occurring, I know I‘m going to turn the page to find a picture. I‘m so frustrated that I know this is a series and I have to finish it. 😭

I wanted to love this book, but I found it so dull to get through. The characters were flat and I was so confused about the original timeline and what year Jacob‘s original time took place. The book would give me something exciting and then it would be buried with something new to deal with. If a student haven‘t given it to me to read I probably would have stopped. Might give the sequel a chance, though.

I think it‘s important to read first hand accounts of the Holocaust. The further away we get from that time the more we need to encounter it, steep ourselves in the raw pain, and ask ourselves if we would allow something like that to happen again. We need to sharpen our awareness of our neighbors around us and remember the phrase “never again.”

I grabbed this download on prime mainly because it was Sherman Alexie. I had no idea about the plot whatsoever, so I was pleasantly surprised at how excellent his transitions were from each time period. It was a short read, but well written, and is another great story by the Native American author that really makes you think about privileges you have in life.

I listened to Ali Wong read the audiobook and while it‘s a perfect match to her Netflix specials, her tone and word choices wear you down after a while. Definitely read in pieces, rather than a binge. Don‘t listen out loud 😂.

Like her Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice creates another well researched, historical novel that weaves together the early years of Christ.

I read this book a few months after I listened to the "You Must Remember This" podcast's series on Charles Manson and they pair together SO WELL.

While a captivating story, I found Ellie and her POV a little unlikeable and unable to connect with. As an art historian who studies obscure Italian women artists, Sara's POV was my absolute favorite and appealed to me as both a reader and an art historian.
