Some of the best parts in an Enid Blyton book were the food descriptions at the ubiquitous feast. Tomato sandwiches, lemonade, melt-in-the-mouth shortbread, fruit cake, cucumber, lettuces, tins of pineapple, squares of chocolate, oh plus lashing and lashings of ginger beer! The Famous Five set a standard in #picnics that has never been equalled. #JamminJune @Eggs

Eggs Beautiful art💕 I ❤️ Enid 4y

Day5/7 books that had a lasting impression. Sticking with childhood.

Enid Blyton dominated my reading when I was young. I never realized my first reading group was my sister and I chatting about these books. Loved them all.

erzascarletbookgasm ❤️ I read loads of E Blyton when I was young too! 5y

Enid Blyton heaven! I devoured so many of her books when I was growing up in Singapore. Now that I'm living in California, it's not easy finding her books. I guess that's what Book Depository is for 😀
But at Popular bookstore, a big chain in Singapore which prob makes its money from assessment books and workbooks, Enid Blyton books are everywhere!!

Peddler410 So, I guess I should have picked up that five book set at Half Price Books. I recognized the name but I've never read her books. 7y
HKGirl I grew up reading her too!! I think my favorites were Famous Five, Malory Towers and Five Find-Outers. Fond memories 💚 7y
HKGirl Also loved some of her animal-focused ones, like The Children at Green Meadows. 7y
Jeg The Australian part of my childhood was full of her books. Especially Famous Five and Secret Seven. As a teacher of small children I loved reading aloud The Faraway Tree . 7y

I'm taking a rather loose interpretation of today's #octphotochallenge. I am an 80s kid, and of course I had a cabbage patch kid and my little ponies, but books were my love even back then. They were my toys. We lived in England for a while, and these Enid Blyton books were my favorites. They are extremely well worn, and now they are in my kiddos' rooms. #80stoysinbookform
