Pulp Fiction
Pulp Fiction | Quentin Tarantino
9 posts | 5 read | 2 to read
Quentin Tarantino - director of "Reservoir Dogs" and writer of "True Romance" - won the Palme d'Or for best film at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival for "Pulp Fiction, " his unique vision of the underworld, starring John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, Samuel Jackson, and Harvey Keitel. Taking his inspiration from the popular, and often lurid, "pulp" crime stories of the thirties and forties, Tarantino intertwines three narratives and introduces a variety of fascinating characters; thick-witted hit men, a double-crossing prizefighter on the run, his absent-minded French girlfriend, the hit men-hiring mob boss, his exotic but drug-addled wife, and two young lovers contemplating a career change - namely whether to start sticking up restaurants instead of liquor stores. Full of wicked humor, dazzling dialogue, and riveting action, "Pulp Fiction" is a master screenwriter's look at today's Hollywood and its dark criminal culture.

"That's when you know you've found somebody special. When you can just shut the fuck up for a minute and comfortably enjoy the silence"

I'm such a huge Tarantino fan and this movie like all the rest of them are filled with all sorts of superb quotes and mesmerising characters.

Came across this book today and had to get it, it's really just the whole screenplay but I couldn't pass it up!

Got a favourite movie of his?

JackOBotts Inglorious Basterds is way up there; also Kill Bill Vol. 1. There‘s no way for me to watch one scene of either and walk away...I‘m all in every time. 4y
ladym30 Inglorious Basterds is one of my all time favorites!❤️ 4y
Therewillbebooks My favorite is probably Pulp Fiction, but the new one Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is up there. 4y

i.besteph The girl on the cover looks a bit like Rihanna if you tilt your head to the left a little bit. 😅😂 4y
LeahBergen I‘m a huge Tarantino fan; I can‘t pick a favourite. 😆 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @JackOBotts @ladym30 Inglourious Basterds is my favourite too, I think it's definitely his masterpiece! 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @Therewillbebooks I didn't particularly like One Upon a Time in Hollywood 😶 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @LeahBergen I like how he's connected his storylines and characters in a Stephen King sort of way, like for instance Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction and Vic Vega from Reservoir Dogs are brothers etc. Fun fact, he was planning a movie called The Vega Brothers but Michael Madsen and John Travolta are to old now obviously. 🤷‍♂️ 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @AnotherMissBennet Really? If anything Rhianna is trying to look like her! 😂 4y
nathandrake1997 ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD is my favorite Tarantino but loved PULP FICTION as well 😄 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @nathandrake1997 Once Upon a Time in Hollywood never done anything for me at all, I felt like it was missing something and it never felt like a Tarantino movie to me. 😏 4y
i.besteph @TheNeverendingTBR true that! 🤣👏🏽 4y
nathandrake1997 @TheNeverendingTBR On the contrary ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD was one of the few Tarantino films I actually loved ? I'm usually not a fan of his style, but here something clicked! In most of his films, my major gripe is the fact that every character ultimately feels like a mouthpiece for "witty Tarantino dialogue" and as a result, I could see more of "Tarantino" than the characters themselves which in turn hampered my immersion considerably.. 4y
nathandrake1997 @TheNeverendingTBR .....ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD felt like his only film where the characters felt like flesh and blood people instead of mere extensions of Tarantino's script. Although my opinions regarding Tarantino usually tend to be unpopular (mainly my dislike for INGLORIOUS BASTERDS, a film which except for some stunning cinematography and that incredible opening 20 minute sequence, did not work for me at all)😅 4y
nathandrake1997 @TheNeverendingTBR And sorry for these long and rambling comments 😅 I especially love discussing about cinema, literature and videogames and sometimes I get a bit too enthusiastic 😅 4y
Vansa My favourite is, predictably Pulp Fiction, though I really loved Once upon a time I. Hollywood too. I found the soundtrack of Once upon a time absolutely stellar, and I LOVED the references to classic westerns and WWII movies- The "cooler king" scene was excellent! I agree with the comments above, I really didn't like Inglourious Basterds, and hated Django Unchained,so self indulgent and that bizarre Aussie-accented cameo!! 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @nathandrake1997 That's an interesting point and everyone is entitled to their opinions of course. I'm the same I could talk about movies for hours! 😂 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @Vansa I absolutely LOVED Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained!! 😝 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @Vansa I also think Christoph Waltz getting an Oscar for both of these roles he played in these movies was completely right, he was incredible. 4y
kelli7990 I haven‘t seen Pulp Fiction. 3y

#junetunz day 16 #taintedlove Love that song by the way!Jack Woodford wrote real pulp fiction in the 1930s and 40s.His books were sought out as risqué reads back in the day.Tame by today's standards."Nausicaa was never immoral ;she was unmoral .She gave herself or her body only as she chose. No factors outside herself could induce or deter her."(flap copy)Love those sultry eyes !

Cinfhen Cool pic and she's definitely giving those smoldering eyes 8y
