gradcat @Andrew65 Thanks for the tag, Andrew. I don‘t want to belabor this point, but maybe you‘ve read by now in some of my other convos on your posts...I‘m really sick, so may not play, but I always appreciate being tagged. I have a virtual appointment with my doc later today...maybe they can get me better quickly. ♥️♥️♥️ 4y
Andrew65 @gradcat Sending you best wishes for a speedy recovery, hope the doctor can help. Take care and some time away to give yourself time to recover. 🥰 4y

#GetMovin #HigherGround These six books from my 'read' stack are are all set in or around higher ground--the mountains in New Mexico, in Colorado, the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Swiss Alps, the Adirondacks, and in the case of the tagged book--post-apocalyptic England.

A) The White Mountains (and the whole original Tripod Trilogy)
B) Yes, I inherited (we are renting) a house with a large & beautiful garden/orchard. 4 large mature apple trees, a pear, a plum and a cherry tree, grapes and blackberries, plus loads of flower buds that are a surprise and a delight as we watch them spring for our first viewing. Also I‘m trying my hand at vegetables for the first time in 30 years. 😱
Cont. below

DivaDiane C) The concert I sang in. Or Pinocchio, a play. (edited) 6y
DivaDiane D) Robin Hobb (complete) and Ursula K. LeGuin (aspiring, but have read maybe 90% of her novels and collections of short stories. 6y

This short middle grade novel is the book I credit with my love of Science Fiction. It has everything. A plucky protagonist who knows there‘s something not right about the world, action, fighting for what‘s right.

It‘s time for my son to read them, but I can‘t find my copies! I wonder if I lent them to someone and never got them back? Or maybe they are somewhere I‘m not remembering.

Mehso-so

I did enjoy the book but I think it might only be geared to a very specific type of person. I enjoyed the questions and mystery surrounded by the tripods but it was overall a very slow read even with only 200ish pages!

Read these in 6th grade for various book projects. Some of my first ventures into nonfiction and science-fiction.

I've read a lot of books in my lifetime and have trouble remembering them all but this series is one of my most memorable middle school favourites. I wasn't a big scifi fan but I was completely hooked on this series when it was introduced to me by one of my teachers. I liked these books so much that I reread them. Over and over and over again. I even reread the first as an adult and, yep, still loved it! #funfridayphoto
