The Wild Boys
The Wild Boys: A Book of the Dead | William Burroughs
5 posts | 12 read | 7 to read
The Wild Boys is a futuristic tale of global warfare in which a guerrilla gang of boys dedicated to freedom battles the organized armies of repressive police states. Making full use of his inimitable humor, wild imagination, and style, Burroughs creates a world that is as terrifying as it is fascinating.

✅ Another strange book marked off the 1001 list! Thankfully, it was short & fairly easy to follow at double speed. It‘s a disjointed mishmash of stories with way too much graphic M/M sex for me. Some scenes were interesting in how they were repetitively told with slight variations, but I didn‘t get the point. It wasn‘t as difficult of a read as de Sade‘s Justine, but I‘m giving it the same kind of rating.

David Bowie apparently drew inspiration from The Wild Boys for his character Ziggy Stardust & that‘s about the only thing that makes sense to me after that. I‘ve never been good with stream-of-consciousness. There were parts that I thought were really funny, but mostly I was confused. I struggled through Naked Lunch too. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Mr. Burroughs, we seem to be at loggerheads. I ordered Junky so that we may be done w/ each other. 152/1,001 #1001Books

#uncannyoctober #hatsandotherheadgear A couple of iconoclasts that rock their hats! It strikes me as funny that one of the most outrageous of writers mostly dressed like he was going to a office job interview. Part of the irony that is Burroughs.Tom Waits can wear whatever the hell he wants.Hats seem to suit him just fine.
