Of the 50+ cookbooks in my collection, "Spoonbread and Strawberry Wine" has been my mainstay since the late 60's. The combination of family history intertwined with family recipes made it stand out from others I'd seen. Each chapter features a family member and his or her specialty dish(es). My kitchen copy is yellowed, dog eared, and has no cover. The Sweet Potato Pie was my go-to for many years.
