Library Christmas party tonight 😁👏🏻! So, my dinner photo didn‘t come through 🙄🙈. My dessert one did though 😁! I had prime rib in a Guinness mushroom sauce, with mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, and a stout called I‘ll Have What She‘s Having, which wound up being a sweet chocolatey flavor which was tasty for a few swigs and then got to be too much 😆🤷🏼‍♂️. Dessert was a brownie sundae. Irish pubs raawwwk! 😎👍🏻👍🏻 #LitsyLovesLibraries

Time for the bookish discussion question of the day 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! Here it is: Do you tend to wait for books to come out in paperback before purchasing them? #BookTalk

Crazeedi If I plan on purchasing a book, I do prefer the paperback for the price and easier for me to read laying in bed! Lol 😅😉 8h
Moonprismpower Either work for me. But price wise the paperback is better. However it depends on if the hardcover has a hidden design on the actual book binding, then I will buy hardcover. 8h
Slajaunie I usually go for paperback because of price unless it is one I just can‘t wait. 7h
See All 9 Comments
BookNAround Yes, I usually wait. 7h
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks There are my auto buy authors that I want hardcovers for... Beatriz Williams, Greg Iles, Jodi Picoult, and Fiona Davis. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 6h
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego 100% Hardcovers are too expensive, and awkward to hold. 6h
tournevis I wait for them to come out on ebook. In French, it can take a while. 6h
erinachu I buy whatever book interests me at whatever time I see it. Though I am reluctant to shell out the extra money for hardcovers. 5h
rwmg My wishlist is so long it takes nearly a year for a book to get to the top, by which time the paperback or ebook is available 5h

Time for the bookish discussion question of the day 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! Here it is: Do you read Holiday Season books during the Holiday Season? Got any favorites? #BookTalk

Crazeedi Normally I'm don't do seasonal reads, but I'm trying to read a few holiday themed ones since I'm doing the winter games challenge. I don't have seasonal books and I am so eclectic when choosing my next book I dont like to be penned in to certain ones!! 1d
TheSpineView I am like @Crazeedi I normally don't but this holiday that is about all I am reading. Blame it on Litsy!🤣 1d
annahenke Absolutely! 1d
See All 19 Comments
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks No, not usually... 1d
wordslinger42 I always read a stack of holiday favorites and this is one that I make sure to read every year. The story is wonderful, and the illustrations are beautifully done and so intricate! 1d
maich I read them😊 I have them on my TBR for December and January but still haven't started because I got 2 ARC and want to read them... I love romance and most of the Christmas stories are romance. So I haven't problem with them. 1d
Crazeedi @TheSpineView 😉 yes we can blame many things on litsy, hehehe!! 1d
ShelleyBooksie I love holiday reads. So far this year the fav for me as been The Christmas Train by David Baldacchi. 1d
Lcsmcat I read A Christmas Carol and A Child‘s Christmas in Wales every year. (Sometimes we read them out loud to each other.) Otherwise I usually read whatever I normally would. 1d
tournevis Nope. Too many books, too little time. 1d
ljuliel Nope, I read whatever , whenever. 1d
jb72 I try to read A Christmas Carol each year. It makes the movies that much better too. I love the book and all the varieties of the movies. 1d
Stacypatrice No - I can‘t read Christmas books or watch Christmas movies .... they are too sappy. Sappy makes me want to puke 🤢 I have a lovely holiday spirit, don‘t I? 1d
TheHeartlandBookFairy Yes, I do enjoy reading them. It seems many of them fall along the same plot lines and I try to avoid those and look for something more unique when it all possible. 1d
rwmg I don't read it every year, more like every 2 or 3 years. The book works like an advent calendar with one chapter for each day. 1d
xicanti A love a good holiday romance, especially if one of the characters is a total grinch and the other helps them discover the magic of the holiday season. 1d
LauraJ I‘m with @Stacypatrice! Bah Humbug! 1d
Aloisi_tribe I don‘t like a lot of holiday reads but I read Truman Capote‘s Christmas stories and listen to Neil Gaiman‘s rendition of A Christmas Carol every year. 18h

Time for the bookish discussion question of the day 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! Here it is: On a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being lowest and 5 being highest, how often do you read biographies (not autobiographies or memoirs), and do you have a favorite bio sub-genre (like presidents or music artists or sports figures)? #BookTalk

TheSpineView I am a zero. Just don't read them ever! I cringe thinking about it! 2d
tournevis Zero. I only read them, as well as autobiographies and memors, if I need to for research. Otherwise, I avoid at all cost. 2d
ljuliel I prefer memoirs, but I‘ve read some REALLY good biographies. Unbroken , Team of Rivals , Destiny of the Republic , Tuesdays With Morrie , Archie and Amelie.........the list could go on , but yes, I like biographies. 2d
See All 16 Comments
rwmg I suppose I'm somewhere between a 1 and a 2. I read them occasionally but they are not a genre I go out looking for 2d
Crazeedi When I was young I read a whole series of biographies my library had. And I fell in live with reading them. They have to be well written though. There are some I've read that are just too dry... but I live reading them 2d
TiredLibrarian Probably a 3? I like rock musician bios (although I've read way more memoirs than bios), Tudor era bios, and the just plain quirky (like Ghosty Men, the story of the hoarding Collyer brothers).
2d
CoverToCoverGirl I like biographies on royal families, especially the British royal family or other types of historical people. I have an odd quirk, I prefer to read only about people who were born before 1900 and I can‘t explain why. 🤷‍♀️ I just finished an amazing biography (edited) 2d
KarenUK Zero too! 🤦‍♀️ 2d
DGRachel Probably a 1, but I have several on my bookshelf. 2d
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks 1.... 🤷🏼‍♀️ 2d
megnews Zero 2d
BookishRedhead 3. Even though I prefer to read from the real people, I do enjoy biographies, favourites are Royal Family and women in Rock. 2d
LeahBergen Frequently! My faves are author biographies and royal biographies. 😄 2d
vivastory Zero 2d
EadieB @MrBook Probably a 1 for me. I've read a biography of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Eleanor Roosevelt, Madeline Albright. So I guess you could say that I like political biographies. 2d

Time for the bookish discussion question of the day 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! Here it is: When you read a book set in a particular place, do you engage in some of that culture, like the food and music for example? #BookTalk

Gissy Yes! 3d
Emilymdxn More often ill read a book and that will make me want to do something else cultural but I normally do it after the book is done just cause timings! 3d
TheSpineView If I am not familiar with the place I will look at the location on a map. Also, I look for pics of the location. 3d
See All 13 Comments
mdm139 Usually the food. Like if linguine is mentioned in the book I have to have it too. 3d
ljuliel I‘ll second @TheSpineView I do the same, usually look up photos to see scenery or people the book is about. 3d
Reagan-reads Sometimes but usually specific to non-fiction. I was super into orchids when I read The Orchid Thief, things like that. 3d
TheSpineView @ljuliel I love seeing pictures of places I have never been! 3d
TiredLibrarian @TheSpineView Same; I love to look up the places on maps and in photos. Sometimes I listen to music from that time and place too.
3d
Sharpeipup Sometimes 3d
rwmg If I can, I will get local food. I often listen to any music mentioned in the book. 3d
TheHeartlandBookFairy For me, it's usually a food thing 😁 But even more frequently, I'll find myself talking differently lol 😂 Using phrases that are frequently used in the book or speaking with an accent. French, Spanish, British, etc. I find it hysterical that I pick this up from books 😂 3d
TheSpineView @TiredLibrarian Hadn't thought about period music. I'll have to next time I get curious.😊 3d
CaseyLea I always try to listen to a song if it‘s mentioned. One of the last books I read contained an old bit of English folklore in it and I found myself researching it for ages online! 3d

Time for the bookish discussion question of the day 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! Here it is: Have you ever borrowed from any Little Free Libraries?! #BookTalk

Leftcoastzen Yes , I tend to get one then return one .We have 2 in our neighborhood, one just for kids books. When I find kids books in good condition at thrifts I buy them for the little free library, especially kids classics. 4d
Bookwormjillk Yes, quite often although I‘m more likely to leave a book than take one. 4d
Lcsmcat I tend to leave books I‘m finished with in LFLs and sometimes I find books I want to read. But often I just leave books. 4d
See All 22 Comments
SaturnDoo There are 4 or 5 close to home. I usually leave more books than I borrow. I usually find the books I take get borrowed 🥰 so it's a win/win situation for me. 4d
tournevis Taken and given. 4d
ljuliel Yes, I traded twice. I‘ve dropped off books a few times without taking any. 4d
TheSpineView Yes. Mostly I drop off books when I am done reading them. 4d
mdm139 Yes 4d
JacqMac I usually drop off just drop off. It‘s a great place for books you don‘t love, because there is always someone out there who will like them. 4d
jdiehr Of course! 4d
TheBookHippie I donate to them ❤️ I have made a few good trades. 4d
xicanti If I know I‘m gonna be near one, I carry a few books with me to leave there. It‘s a lot rarer for me to take a book, these days. When I do, it‘s usually something I think a family member might like. 4d
CSeydel Oh yes! I also donate, but occasionally I find something I‘ve been wanting to read. 4d
wordslinger42 I've never found one in my area! I have thought about starting one next spring 😊 4d
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego All the time. There were at least 7 near my old place. 4d
Minimalgrl Yes I‘ve borrowed and contributed 🤓📚🥰 4d
Kappadeemom No, but leave books there often. Law, I don‘t need anymore books on my TBR 🤪 4d
Slajaunie No but I added a bunch of books to the two near me. 4d
TheHeartlandBookFairy Absolutely! I built and steward two little free libraries myself and consider it a steward perk to read a book that's been shared to my libraries before resharing it. I also share books with a lot of other little free libraries. I'm really trying to limit myself due to my out of control TBR stack but every once in a while a book still has to come home with me temporarily 😁 4d
TracyReadsBooks No but I donate to them all the time. 4d
plemmdog I added one to our yard a year ago. The only book I read so far which someone else left besides me was Normal People by Sally Rooney, and loved it. 4d
Lynnsoprano There‘s one in a park near us, but I‘ve only ever seen children‘s books in it. Maybe if I donate some adult fiction it would get the ball rolling. The problem is that we don‘t normally pass it unless we‘re out walking, and I don‘t think to take books along on a walk. 3d
