The Orphan Keeper | 
pickI listened to the audiobook and it was fantastic. A boy stolen from his family in India, spending time in an orphanage in another town, and eventually adopted by an American family. In the US he was the only Indian in his town. When he did a semester abroad in college, to London, he was surrounded by Indians which triggered memories he‘d repressed. With a lot of detours along the way, he goes on a journey to find his family & tell his story.
Our book club is now reading The Orphan Keeper. Has anyone read it? Given the brief description, I am assuming it‘s going to be quite interesting. 📖
so-soKept me reading and since it‘s based on a true story I know my irritations mean zilch but it still irritated me that an EIGHT year old forgot his entire childhood. I just can‘t even imagine. But I guess that‘s what happened so....
pickI did not expect to enjoy this story so much. Kidnapped in India at eight and adopted in the US, Taj is struggling to find out who he is. Themes of loss and belonging and opportunity and helping others are explored in the midst of a story I raced through to see its resolution.
This is Buns. The most stubborn vindictive but snuggly kitty you‘ll ever meet. She has this powerful snore/heavy breathing when she‘s sleeping that is impossible not to fall asleep to. It could cure insomnia, I tell you! It‘s the reason I can never stay awake when I try to read. #catsofinstagram

so-soMy first audiobook! I listened to it on the insanely long flights I had to and back from Japan. I really loved the uniqueness and messages of this story. I felt that some of the characters lacked development (the adopting parents) and sometimes just had an irritating character (like the main character...). But overall, this is a fantastic read!

pickHmmm, it IS a remarkable story and a quick read because you want to find out what happens, but I didn't love the writing style. The amazing part of the story is that it really happened.
pickI think I loved this story more because it was based on true events... Evoked so many emotions, heart break, anger, hope, wonder. Look forward to reading more of this author

pickWow!! Can I just say read it? It's not one of those books where you're sitting there and you're so depressed reading it and you just feel hopeless. It's filled with hope, some humor and definitely a book that can inspire. It's not filled with a bunch of dry facts. But there is enough information in there to get the wheels of curiosity turning to learn more about the country and the plight of the people particularly the children. Very important.
Wow, I started this book this weekend. It's so good so far.
Today's library haul, in hopes that something will snap me out of my book slump. I guess it's good I'm sitting for my nanny kid late tonight, maybe I can actually get into something. I hate watching tv in other people's houses, maybe that's weird, but I've always viewed night babysitting as a perfect time to read a book or two.
