Confession: I don‘t like psychological thrillers. I THINK I do. I read the synopsis, get excited, read the book & then I‘m not thrilled. This wasn‘t an exception. I was loath to pick it up after putting it down & was just “meh” about it. Toward the end I got more interested but when all was said and done I thought, that was it? Ok 🤷🏻‍♀️ If you like thrillers you will enjoy this. If you don‘t, this is probably not going to change your mind.

I really enjoyed this. I‘m a sucker for a book about female friendships with women who are strong and defy convention. That being said, these particular women really are a bit more ahead of their time and place, arguably, unrealistically so. It didn‘t bother me, but it was something that caught my attention throughout the book. Also, there are some passages, that to me, felt a bit too melodramatic or just cliche. Still, a really good read.

I loved this book. I was a little iffy about the synopsis when I first read it but if I trust anyone to tell me a story I‘m not so sure about it‘s Ruta Sepetys and she did not disappoint. My stepfather is Spanish and I‘m embarrassed to say and I had NO idea about any of what happens in this book. Really fascinating and heartbreaking stuff told beautifully in this book! I highly recommend it.

I hate to say it but I did not like this book! I finished it but I hate read it 🙈 Mostly I just did not like the relationship between the Duke & Leonie. He treated her like a child; she acted like one. Sometimes she would act like a dog, sitting at his feet admiring him. I just was not feeling it. I did laugh out loud several times but that wasn‘t enough to save the book for me. I‘ll try one more by her though because I do want to like her!

Linsy I hated that about it too!!! I‘m told I need to retry another of hers though, that this wasn‘t a good starting point. 1mo
Beatlefan129 Can we talk about those pancakes though? They look amazing! 1mo
Bookish_B @Linsy Right? But it‘s weird because reviews/articles I‘ve seen say it‘s a fan favorite and I am completely baffled. I definitely will try something else by her though. 1mo

There‘s a Goodwill store not far from where I work. My co-worker goes there on his lunch sometimes and buys books quite at random. Sometimes, by chance, he gets something I‘ve been wanting to read and I‘m able to convince him to give it to me. This is what he “donated” to me today 😁😂

If you know her humor & like it, this will not disappoint. If you‘re not familiar with her be forewarned she is raunchy, vulgar & crass. So, not for the easily offended. Still, she speaks about tough subjects in an honest and hilarious way. I especially related to, and enjoyed, the sections about immigrants and experiencing other cultures. I don‘t know that I‘d want my mother telling ALL the things she shares here, but that‘s just me 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

This is between a so-so and a Pick but I always skew towards Pick. Not my favorite of theirs. I mean, it‘s fine. I feel like the characters and friendships could have been a bit more fleshed out and you can‘t overthink the story, but still a fun, quick read.

This book. You will need alcohol or ice cream or both to get through it. It is really good but also incredibly frustrating, infuriating and at times unbelievable but eye-opening. This book, and the way Busy writes it, is like you‘re sitting with her on a comfy couch with drinks while she tells you stories. I found it enjoyable, honest and fun. I especially liked that she doesn‘t hold back naming names, and though it‘s an unpopular opinion, I liked that she validated my extreme dislike of James Franco. Don‘t yell at me- he‘s gross (not looks-wise, but as a person). Anyway, it won‘t be for all but I liked it!

This was between a so-so and a pick. I‘m going with “pick” because I got interrupted a lot while reading it and that made it hard to really get invested and that‘s not the book‘s fault, lol. But, basically, you will finish this book and want to call your loved ones and tell them how much you love them. If I had siblings that‘s probably what I would have done! Not a cheery book, that‘s for sure, but certainly not a bad read.

I loved this book. I liked that it didn‘t require suspension of disbelief- as often happens in these books the characters are fake dating, or making out or sleeping together & are somehow still in doubt about their feelings for one another, but not in this one. It happens slowly, over time & it‘s believable. The story, the characters & the relationships felt realistic & grown up. The dialogue is witty & fun. Overall I was charmed by this book.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Did I enjoy it? Sure. It‘s a fun, quick, read. I just felt the love story was kind of lacking? At first, the Rookie, as he is referred to for about the first half, seems more like a kid than a love interest, & then there‘s just not as much interaction on the page (it is alluded to) between them as I would‘ve liked. By the time they were irrevocably in love with each other I was baffled as to how it happened!

Kimberlone Very similar thoughts! I thought the romance, once it started, seemed to develop way too fast and the resolution to the romantic conflict just did not seem realistic/believable to me! 4mo

Umm, this book! 😱🔥🔥🙈🌶🌶 It‘s the usual trope you expect for a romance. They are attracted but can‘t/shouldn‘t be together. They fake date but don‘t fake sex, lol. I could have used less of the “baby girl” term of endearment from the Travis character and there were some other issues, but you don‘t read this for the secondary characters, so overall I enjoyed this even if it made me blush quite a bit 😂

I‘m in the minority on this one because I did not love this book. It was ok but not great.
