I'm at the main library branch again today to finish up my weeding of the adult Fantasy/SF collection! Decided to highlight a few of the best of the worst titles I found! What exactly is....a fender lizard? 🤔🤣😂 #librarylove #librariansoflitsy

This book blindsided me. I expected a kinda weird fantasy set in the desert, but I got a kinda weird general novella with tons of heart, voice for days, and not a lick of the fantastical to it. FENDER LIZARDS is all about how one East Texas girl closes a few doors and opens a bunch more as she goes about her daily life, processing family stuff and sorta-kinda learning about roller derby along the way. It's excellent and I loved it.
Here's a gratuitous picture of Casey, who's snuggled up with me while I read more of FENDER LIZARDS. I got the book as part of a Subterranean Press Humble Bundle and assumed it was fantasy, but it's actually litfic about a girl in East Texas. I love it so far.
After the hell of The Idea of You (the book by Amanda Prowse I was preapproved for on #NetGalley) I wanted to read a good book. Fender Lizards is a charming book where nothing happens and it was wonderful.
First book of 2017! Great story, I love his Hap and Leonard series also!
