Dinan was brave to follow her globe trotting dreams and to show herself in a revealing, often unflattering light, tho I did feel that she kept the struggles in her marriage a bit vague and if you‘re expecting a true ‘travel‘ book you might be disappointed. However, this was a cool journey that I‘m glad to have vicariously taken (I‘m never really going to drive a rickshaw in India) with lessons of self discovery that anyone can benefit from.

3⭐️ Love the concept of the yellow envelope. The book is worth the read for this alone! Would love to see all of us tuck some money in our back pocket and follow these same principles. Why not? And we don‘t even really have to travel anywhere to do it. Need is everywhere. There's something pure magical about reading in the morning light while my boys are still asleep. I have some soft instrumental music playing, snuggled under my current favorite blanket and transformed to Nepal right now. I love my book time but these solitary hours are the best. Enjoying the book and almost finished. Will share my thoughts as soon as I finish. #magicalbooktime

I find this book at the library accidentally and I'm finally reading it. I have flagged a few other gems but this one is sticking with me. #bookquotes

I normally enjoy reading non fiction and I love anything that has to do with travel, but this memoir didn‘t manage to convince me. Not only was the actual talk about traveling and the different countries limited, but the main focus was actually on the author, her feelings and self-discovery. And unfortunately I had problems with the rather selfish tone and cliches as well.

I wanted to like this. I really did. But Kim Dinan just irritated me. She seemed very selfish to me; so ready to give up on her marriage without fighting for it. We are taken to several places all over the world, and yet we get bare descriptions. Somehow it just doesn't seem like a travel book to me.

"'I wished for happiness. . . . I wished for us to always be happy together.'
'Perhaps he already had an idea of what would happen next.'"
This is more of self-reflection/memoir than a travel book. And she kind irritates me.

Going into this with mixed feelings. I've heard mixed reviews, so I'm crossing my fingers I'll like the book.

I haven't decided what I think of this book. It's about a woman who decides to travel the world with her husband and are given money from friends to give away during their travels. I thought she was whiny and self entitled for most of the book but she did grow and change by the end of the book. I think it's more of a coming of age type than a travelogue that I was expecting. Interesting concept but not a home run.

My favorite part of the Bookout app is that it tells me how long they think it'll take for me to finish a book. And that I can track all the random books I start and haven't finished yet.

Really enjoyed this travel memoir about a couple selling all their possessions to travel the world. Thanks so much to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for my digital advanced readers copy. ☺
